Does anyone know where I could get to see some examples of '8 point' writing? I'm trying to have a discussion with someone about the amount of progress I can expect from some children in their reception year and it would help so much if I could show what I'm talking about. There are some examples in the profile guidance but I'm thinking they are point 9 rather than 8?

Hi everyone, I just wanted to know if it is accepted to keep photgraphic evidence in a folder for each child on a usb pen? I would find this so much easier than printing out and I can also then keep a track of the dates and what the children did rather than the photos waiting for me to glue them in and forgetting what I saw. Any opinions/ advice would be geat, thank you

Hi everyone, i am just looking at my tracking sheets and havent got photographic or video evidence of certain chn at scale points 1-3. Do you think it is ok this week to set up some activities that are adult directed to see if chn can...for instance count reliably up to 3 objects. It is difficult catching 28 chn doing these scale points all the time. There is about 5 chn in my class who im not sure can do this. Can i set up an activity for the Nursery nurse to do with them? or would this not be good practice? would love you advice on this

Hi everyone, I've been in Reception for 2 years but have a little boy who is making me feel like it is my first year again! He is absolutely gorgeous and a delight to have in the classroom - unfortunately his transition from a very boring paperwork side of things has been less than that! I have not been given a record of transfer or profile from nursery - they say they didnt do ROT and mum has profile - mum says she hasn't!? Argh! He has a statement for his language needs and speaks about his autism (something mum does not believe and apparently his paediatrician questions?) so has one to one support 25 hrs. Unfortunately I've been away from school with illness an…

Just a quicky query - is there any requirement to do tracking for Ages and Stages (tracking according to month)? We do look carefully at progress with the profile and track progress on e-profile but am wondering whether the months tracking is essential. I know that it helps to see where the next developmental stage will be, but just feeling a bit confused and wondering whether I'm creating more work for myself than is necessary. Any replies welcome!

Hi I'm starting a new job in September after being on maternity for a year. I have a bigger class than I am used to and the old reception teacher did things very differently to me. However I'm not sure what longer term observation sheets she has, and wanted to start off with a really good one to create my own way of doing things. Anyone who has an example they would be happy to post, that would be great. Thanks Katiem

Hi, just wondered if anybody could give me any ideas on the kinds of assessment they do on entry to Reception. Last year I just did the basics such as letter, number recognition, name writing etc. However, I feel that this year I need to be more thorough. Do you assess stepping stones as well as ELGS? Just a little confused as last year did e profile. Do you just assess the statements on eprofile mainly for CLL, MD, and PSHE? Sorry if I am not being very clear, just feel a little muddled about it all. I've read some forums here already but I am getting myself all confused and stressed! If anyone could please help it would be much appreciated.

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share a copy of a blank profile with me please? I have not yet found a good example of anything that is really 'user friendly'. I have tried several times (unsuccessfully) to access the website to download the e.profile. I am begining to panic now that i have no way of recording childrens progression on a booklet that is similar to the old FSP. Any help would be appreciated . Thankyou

I know there was guidance with the old curriculum that showed which stepping stones counted towards FSP scales but can't find it with the new one. Does anyone have anything like this? I don't want to re-invent the wheel (again!)

So today my headteacher receieved an email from our LA with an attachment of my children and their profile scores. They said that you would not expect to have a difference of more than 3 points for a child between 2 areas, and if there were the children had been highlight and needed to be investigated. There were 13 of children lhighlighted - nearly half the class! I wondered what your views on this were - to me this seemed ridiculous as not all the areas are comparible - a child could be brilliant at PD but not be able to blend or segment so would therefore have a difference of more than 3. A significant number related to the calculating score which was low in compa…
