Hiya all, wondered if you could help me ? Im sure I found on one of your posts a profile cum learning jouney that had at the end the six areas/ElGs with columns next to it for obs/progression statements relevant to each term eg term 1,2,3. It looked ideal to me to show progression and was going to use it in my childminding setting. But having wracked my little brain cannot remember where Ive seen it !! Any help would be appreciated and as a by the way, all the stuff you girls do re feedback to parents forms look great, Ive not had anything for my lo from his nursery and he is due to finish soon and start big school - so well done to you it looks great !! thank…

We are currently getting support from our local early years team to improve our FS provision. Up to now we have relied on post-it observations but its been suggested that we do some longer observations on individuals. Just wondered if anyone had any pro formas that they would be willing to share? Thanks in advance! Kathryn

hi I am a KS 1 teacher- special school. Have been informed that chdn from EYFS who achieve 8 on the 1-9 scale for EYFS profile should achieve NC level 3 at end of KS 1 and those achieving 6 points should achieve level 2. Does any one know if this is correct, please? What evidence is needed from EYFS of attainments? What percentage, roughly, nationally achieve 8-9 on EYFS profile by end of yr R? Similarly for EYFS 6? At what point do you say that chdn should start NC? eg should this be when ELGs are achieved and does that mean achieving 8 or 9 from the profile? I am assuming there must be some overlap between the development matters and the descriptors f…

Hi just thought i would start a discussion again on baseline. If you have a large % of pupils on entry that dont score point 1 are you linking their starting point from their months in Dev Matters. Does anyone have a format they update the info on so you can show progression for pre profile data. I know its been mentioned on here before the use of a baseline booklet from communication4all. Thanks

Transitional Summative Forms

No doubt this question has been asked before and I, as usual need an opinion on this........ I have filled in most of the transfer forms for the children we have leaving nursery and going to school(working together with the childs key worker to ensure we have summed up the child correctly) however one of the keyworkers at the setting wanted to do hers independently which I welcomed but, as manager said I needed to look at prior to giving to parents.......she has made a judgement of her children at the higher end of the EYFS in most areas - which I think it unrealistic.....tricky situation as I am questioning her judgement! But generally I have never judged the child…

Hi can anyone clarify please. If a child is scoring 1-3 on entry do you give them an overall score of 40-60 months? If they are not scoring any profile points do you track back to see which age brcket they are working within.

Children Just Joined Reception

Help!? ... I really need to ring my Early Years Advisory team - but been so busy, I just haven't got to a phone within office hours. I had two new children join my class last week, one on 7th June and one on 8th June. I have not received anything at all from one previous school and the only thing i've received from the other is a letter that says X is working at level 7 in reading, level 7 in writing, and level 7 in maths, which doesn't even make sense, as having achieved scale point 7 and having achieved 7 scale points is not the same thing, not to mention that CLL is split into four strands and PSRN is split into three strands. Anyway, sorry - I digress ...…

Teaching Nursery

hi I'm starting a new job in a nursery in September. Do the children start at the profile points in the EYFS profile and when assessing them do you put wow work into a scrap book? I am leaving my current job due to being bullied by my jobsharer who happens to be the Deputy head too. She has ignored me since Christmas and I've had enough. I have had to submit for every profile point a picture of each child and add a comment and date for when they completed that point. (a nightmare). Would be happy for a few ideas Many thnks Sacha jade.

Pd Point 6

Hi Would you expect a child to be able to spin a hoop around their waist and skip with a rope before giving point 6. I've just been moderated and this was the advice given. I would have thought these were quite advanced skills for a typical 4/5 year old. I only have oed child who can skip using a rope and another who is beginning to spin a hoop around her waist. I also know lots of adults who can't spin a hoop. What are your thoughts on this?

And if you do....how? My TA and I discuss the profiles together as much as we can and agree the points between us (don't get any time allowed for this, but sometimes manage in my PPA time) but I just found a document my Head should have passed on to me in November about moderation where it says that you can't get 'Good' unless you have moderated internally or with other schools. Will they take my word for it, or do I have to evidence it in some way? Moderation on Friday, so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
