Release Time For Profile
by Guest- 7 replies

Hi there We're having a bit of a discussion in our school at the moment - do you get release time inaddition to PPa to complete and moderate your profile. Our Reception stafff have been told that there was money sent to school to pay for cover so the profiles could be completed and moderated - we were just wondering if people were given extra time to do this as there was seemed to be some funding there - as it happens the 3 staff will be given half a day. what happens in your school ?

Hello, I wonder if you can help - and I may not have put this in the right place - apologies if not! I am really struggling to interpret SSM point 8. I have read and re-read the examples and explanation in the profile handbook and I just can't think of any instances among my children. It may be that they don't - which begs the question of whether I'm giving them the opportunities to do so but I suspect that's a whole other discussion! Thank you.

Target Setting In Reception

Hi All, Am sure this topic will have been discussed previously - so apologies! Does anyone set targets for their Reception children? If so, what are these based on? And, how often are target set, e.g. termly? I don't particularly agree with setting targets in Reception, and why set them a 'literacy' and a 'numeracy' target when the 6 areas have (or should have) equal weighting ... but to put it into context when Ofsted came to our school (Jan 2009) they gave the school satisfactory overall, with a number of 'goods' and an outstanding for behaviour. All areas of EYFS were judged good. One of the targets for improvement that Ofsted set the school was somet…

hi, I'm filling in my e profile at the end of this term and have just been made aware! that there are links between points ie. if the children have achieved x in this scale they should have also achieved y and z in another scale etc. On the eprofile there's a quality assurance section that gives you a break down of all the anomalies between points. So now I have a set of data that doesn't seem to correlate and whatever I try to add seems to throw up even more anomalies! MY RESULTS ARE DUE IN IN JUST OVER A WEEK AND I'M TOTALLY BEMUSED. PLEASE HELP!]

Calculating
by Guest- 5 replies

Hi all, just a quick one please! On the EYFSP calculating strand the scale points 3 and 7 state that the children should know one more OR one less than a number up to 5, then up to 10. Do you take this as the children only need to know one of these to achieve the scale point - do they only need to know how to find one more or one less! this is how i take it but another member of staff disagrees and believes that is should be both. Thanks x xx

Help please There is a boy in my class who I think could be considered EAL. He was born here but mum is Arabic. As he was born here we were not entitled to any support. His English language comprhension and spoken language is very poor and when this was discussed mum said it was very poor in Arabic too. I've asked for an assessment in his own language and told this was not usually done with childrn so young. (5). It is really help with the profile I'm seeking. I understand all can be done in his own language except cll 4-9. We have lots of photos in his learning journey that we could discuss to assess his understanding (at the time of the activities he genera…
