Stepping Stones

Can anyone help me by remembering the old stepping stones and how they relate to the current 9 elgs. I am at a special school where we actually use b squared and P scales for our assessments but on the parental reports we give an EYFS lvel and a reception child I have has been given 'yellow' , 'green' or blue for his levels last year and I am trying to work out if he has progressed. I will just give the number of scale points he has acheived. Can you help? Thanks, Catriona

Hi Help again please!!! Looking at my evidence for creative, I have lots of varied areas covered but I'm struggling between points 7 and 8 and really can't see much difference. Help would be much appreciated. They all seem to merge into each other. Regards Geraldine

Eyfsp To Nc Levels
by Guest- 5 replies

Dear All I was just wondering what different schools do to show progression from EYFS to the rest of the school. I think the progress children make in EYFS gets lost because it does not link exactly to NC levels, so tracking tends to just start from 1c. I know some schools convert EYFSP scores into p-scales but I don't think this is right! Thank you!

Just looking for some help (again). Our parents are coming into school next week to have a look at their chilcren's learning journey's with their children. It is a brief sesseion and we are hoping for the parents to somehow comment/contribute to their books during this time. We are going to design a sheet for the parent's to write on and wondered if you have any ideas for prompts e.g. What have you enjoyed looking at etc.... If any of you have already got a pro forma then I would very much appreciate a look.

Now, this is a very simple question and I should know the answer! But I wonder if you could help me spot a relevant profile scale point for this quick obs. We were reading a non-fiction book and choosing which page we'd like to start on, reading the different headings, and one little boy called out 'It's counting in 2s!' We hadn't looked at the numbers of the contents at that point, he'd just been looking at them himself, and we hadn't got into counting in 2s yet either (although obviously we followed up this observation in our planning and counting in 2s took off in a big way with most of the class, more than usual, interestingly, because it came from a child's interest…

How Often Do You Fill In Fsp Data In Reception
by Guest Cathryn1974- 6 replies

Hi Am just reading up on EYFS profile. Do any of you complete FSP data for your children at other times of the year as well as in the summer or do you just do the development bands and FSPs in the summer only? Just wondered how everyone did this? Also, in Nursery do you just do the bands or start the FSPs? Hope this makes sense. Looking forward to your pearls of wisdom. Cat XXXXX

Confession : I have fallen a very, very long way behind in sorting out my children's profiles for a number of reasons and have been working hard every evening and weekend to try and get them up to date. I spent 10 hours yesterday cutting out photographs and sticking them in the children's books with the post-its and longer observations and trying not to notice that I hadn't done this since Christmas. Now I have to try and write the profile points that these observations represent so I can fill in the eye-profile before Monday and I am struggling!!! I seem to have lots of observations that seemed quite interesting but don't seem to represent any profile points at all…
