Hi all, Just filling in the profiles for this half term and wanted to clarify something. I know that the assessment is supposed to be based on 80% child initiated and only 20% adult led. I only ever have 1 adult doing an adult led task the other 2 adults observing, modelling play etc so generally feel I have a good ratio of child initated to adult led observatins. I put all the observations into childrens learning stories and i cross reference each obs to the scale point it shows them meeting. I only highlight a given scale point when I have seen it initiated by the child. However, looking at the scores, some of the childrens result don't match up to their abilty,…

Does anyone set targets for the children to achieve scale points eg target ladders where the child get a sticker on each rung ans they have met this target. If possible could you share your ideas of how I can set child friendly or parent friendly targets. help needed thanx

Eyfsp Key Scale Points?

Hi I've recently been on some training about transition from reception to year 1 and we looked at end of year EYFSP scores. We discussed the 'average child' scoring 78 but that if some key scale points are missing accross the profile some children may find it difficult working in the national curriculum. Thought I'd make a fancy table to highilight the missing key scale points to pass on to the year 1 staff but I can't find which of the scale points are classed as 'key' ones. Have been searching for hours but no luck. Do any of you clever people know where I can find this info? Thanks Fluffychuffnuts

Malt Tests - Diagnostic Maths Tests

Has anyone else been asked to administer these to their FS and if so what do you think or feel about them? These are diagnostic numeracy tests to be administered at end of FS to aid planning and also to ensure those gaps are not repeated the next year. I'm not too happy about these as asking 4/5 year olds to sit down with a test booklet and ring the right answers does not sit easily with my beliefs.

So...have decided to apply for the role of moderator for my local LEA. Just sitting here trying to write my letter of application. Well struggling to write it really... I'm rubbish at 'bigging' myself up! Has anyone else applied for this role? If so can you give me any tips etc? What will they be looking for? Thanks.

Eyfs Chart?

Not sure if this is the right area for this question so apologies in advance if not! I used to have a chart where all the scale points were arranged on one page in a sort of table with 1-9 down the side and the area across the top. Each scale point was briefly described in the appropriate box. I've often seen this used as a way of recording children's progress by highlighting the scale points achieved at the end of each term in different coloured highlighters. The problem is I can't find it anymore. Does anyone have a link to where it might be or a copy they can send me please? It was a PDF document and the table was a sort of blue colour. I'm sure it's somewhere real…

Does anyone on here do this? I have an interview later this month to possibly become an EYFS profile moderator in Kent and was hoping to get a better insight into the post before my interview. Any tips would be welcome. We had an internal LEA moderation in May 2009 and was graded 1 so feel we are doing lots right..... but of course thats only part of the job.

Hi evtryone, I really need to get out more but these cold dar nites are really not encouraging me to, so here i am on fsf again. I was always under the understanding that if chn who are going into yr 1 have not yet met the easrly leasrning goals, then yr 1 teacher should be still providing EYFS curriculum to those chn who have not got secure scale points to 9. My head seems to think you work off the p levels. please can you verify this for me cheers xx

::1aThis is my first time of asking for help. Would really appreciate any ideas. I have read that PLODS are good way of planning for individual childrens needs. Has anyone got any best practice ideas or even a copy of a blank one. I have been searching the EYFS standards site and haven't found any info. Many thanks (I am working in a Nursery setting)
