research_survey_for_forum.doc Hello all you very busy people, I realise its a busy time of year but would really appreciate your views on the use of the profile in regard to transition to year 1. This is for my 3rd year Dissertation (which is proving a bit of a struggle, time wise etc!) I have attached a short survey to this post (though not sure how you get it back to me?!) Your input would be very useful. Thanks so much

Can anyone help? After the initial rush of EYFS awareness has there been much training about putting EYFS into practice. Does anyone know of any material I could use to produce a short course to help practitioners?

Hi I am looking into how to get more of an idea from parents to support my observations towards the Profile points. I wonder if anyone has anything that they have designed that they have sent home to parents to get their comments. Thought I would ask before I design one myself. I am thinking along the lines of a brief explanation for each of the areas and asking for parents comments from home and finding out if the children talk about what they have learnt C.L.L - reading, writing at home P.S.R.N - counting, +, - C.D - roleplay imagination I have parents evening coming up so would introduce it then. I feel it could be useful in finding out about the c…

Profile Point Scores

Hi there, I am just adding up my fsp points for each child. I was told that the gradings were too high or unrealistic for the country average and wonder if there is a specific 'average' score in different counties. With the total being 117 the majority of children are achieving between 85 to 90 points. Am I marking too strictly? I would appreciate any advice on this area. Thanks

Hiya, It's that time of year again to review PM and I wondered what other schools do for targets to show progress thtough the reception year. From y1 onwards teachers are expected to have children make 2 sub-levels progress in a year - how do you quantify progress in reception? At the moment my PM says 4 points progress over the year, but as points 4-8 aren't hierarchical I wondered if this really works? Also not sure if 4 points is right - we were working on idea that the 'average' child comes in with 2/3 points and leaves with 6-8 points. Wondered if maybe we'd be better targeting percentage of children to have reached certain totals - maybe especially with th…

Hiya, This is my first year in YR and our first year using the eyeprofile as a school. My head has asked me if she needs to sign a declaration or anything (like they do for KS1 and KS2 sats) when we send the data off to county. I can't find any reference to this in the purple ARA document for 2009, just a date for final submission of points scores etc. Any ideas welcome! Thanks, Tracy

Hi all Tomorrow I would like to do an internal moderation exercise with FS staff as we have a couple of new members this year. I was hoping to find some case studies or something on the internet that we could look at and attach profile scale points to, to make sure we were all of a similar view but no look finding anything at the moment. Does anyone have anything or can direct me to any resources? I know it's short notice, being tomorrow, sorry guys! Thanks

I've been completing my profile on paper this year rather than directly into the eye profile. I always intended to use the eye profile, but time has swept away and somehow my records have stayed on paper. Anyway, now I'm transferring my records to the eye profile and I wondered how to record the assessments I made of children's scores on entry to reception in September. In my paper records I've got some assessments as on entry (ie September), then some as Autumn A (ie after one new term in reception). There is obviously a difference between a child achieving a point on entry and after a number of weeks in reception. I don't know, therefore, whether to shift my assess…

Hello, does anybody know whether we can get the booklets that you fill out for the child and send home as their reports this year? If not, what are other professionals using as an alternative? Thanks
