Foundation Stage Booklets?
by Guest- 5 replies

This is my first post, so not sure if this is ok, but here goes! There is probably a whole section on this, but just wondered if anyone knows for sure if the foundation stage profile booklets are still available. I give these out to my parents when they leave my foundation class, but with the new EYFS have been told different views with regard to them being available. So just wondered if anyone can throw any light on the subject. Sorry if this has been discussed a million times!! Many thanks, Jackie.

HI there I was going to add this to a link that was started yesterday re the EYFS and the profile but I couldn't find it (so if anyone wants to move it that's fine by me). Someone had asked if the profile was being replaced and I said I would find out more from my moderators meeting today. One of the EY advisors who is also a moderator went on the NAA course for moderation accreditation. She found out that the revised profile have a National Launch on July 8th and 'go live' which I presumes means available to download soon afterwards. It is not clear whether there will be a handbook like the current one or whether it will only be availble to download. What there will …

Sd 7 And 8

I am completing my profiles for the FS stage and am just interested in people's views on SD7 and SD8. Understands that people have different needs, views, cultures and beliefs that need to be treated with respect-SD7 Understands that s/he can expect others to treat her or his needs, views, cultures and beliefs with respect - SD8 Are they easier to give than I am thinking.......I can see SD7 for some children who are helpful towards others, esp children with additional needs - and is it also if they enjoyed Chinese New Year celebrations and activities, Christmas activities etc - and also if children support different teams. But what do you give SD8 for...…

Hi everyone, It has been a pity that I haven't been able to come around the forum for a long time, but things have been very busy this school year. I have a doubt about a Green Stepping Stone and would greatly appreciate your kind help. What do you understand or expect by: -Uses ideas involving fitting, overlapping, in, out, enclosure, grids and sun-like shapes. Some examples? Thanks in advance

Point 9?

Can anyone clarify this for me please. Can children score point 9 on any of the scales without scoring all of the previous 8? I was under the impression that 9 meant they had achieved all of the ELG's (1-8) and then some to get level 9. However I have taken over from an experienced practitioner who has now retired and in the assessment info she has passed on she has awarded some of them point 9 without all of the 1-8's being completed.

Hi, another moderating question - hope someone can help me out! I've looked through lots of exemplification from different authories but I still can't work it out. LS&L Point 4 says: Child links sounds to letters, naming and sounding letters of the alphabet. so...would you expect children to know both the sounds (s, j) as well as the names (ess, jay) to mark off this point? The examples given in the handbook say Victoria brings in some objects to go on the ‘interest’ table. ‘I’ve brought a doll, a die and a picture of my Dad’, she explains. The children play the game ‘Noisy Letters’. The practitioner gives each child a letter, and the childre…

Would You Award This Point?

Hi, This is my first time using the FP and although I am fairly confident with whether or not children have met the ELG's I just wanted to ask people's advice about three children on the same point. It is CLL, Writing, SS2- Uses some identifiable letters to communicate meaning. OK, all three children have SEN. One of them only writes L for his name and only writes that when he is asked to put his name on anything he is asked to do. The only time he uses paper is with an adult. He doesn't make marks in sand, salt, foam or any other medium unless with an adult. Child 2 is the same but he writes Fr for his name, again only using paper when with an adult. He …

Can any kind person direct me to any official website where this has been outlined. I need to show a 'from the horses mouth' version of this to my head, as there is pressure from K.S.1 staff to mark down my children and to have some children as below average on entry. There is no way they are below average on entry to F.S. The inspector has suggested there must be an issue in K.S .1 using my profile data to predict SAT results and saying the SAT results should be better. I have been moderated and in fact urged to mark 1 child up! though I stood my ground. Thanks
