Hi there, Like lots of you up I update my profile fairly regularly. But I have noticed a serious gap in some of the learning areas, where I have noted if the child can do it.

Would anyone be willing to share how you do yours, what works well, any that have had good feedback or aything else that might be useful. Reprot writing always drives me mad!! m hoping that a new style will make it a little easier!! Thanks in anticipation! Jo x

Death By Target Setting
by Guest- 13 replies

Please someone help! Today I had a pupil progress review meeting with the Head, Deputy and ISP Consultant. It went relatively well as far as showing progress within my class etc etc. I use the eprofile and am relatively happy with it. As the newly appointed Year Leader, I get the wonderfuly task of once again adapting what they want for KS1 and KS2 for FS. That was fine, felt I did it while aware that it would need reviewing for next time. He threw a spanner in the works by asking for percentage predictions for children to reach their end of Rec targets! So, I did my whole spiel of ELGs not necessarily achieved that way, very full in their expectations, very diffic…

Targets Or Next Steps?
by Guest- 4 replies

Do the children in your Reception classes have group targets for MD or CLL? Are they displayed in the classroom and shared with children and parents? We've just had OFSTED who want group targets and the very next day I went to an EY moderation meeting and the EY advisor shouted me down for my class having targets. Any views on this one?

Low Scores On Entry
by Guest- 11 replies

Looking for help (yet again!) I have just read in a school report to Governors that the school needs to address the issue of "below average Foundation Stage Profile scores on entry." I am now very confused. How can this be possible? I thought the Profile summed up the attainment of the children by the end of the FS year. It seems a bit mean to write them off from the beginning. I think I know where the Head got this idea from - we devised new 'entry observations' (as we get only a few Record of Transfers from our local pre-schools) and these observations did show up some interesting things but (I don't think) 'low profile scores' !!!!!! Any advice…

Moderated Today

Been moderated today by 2 consultants from my LA and everything went really well. They were really impressed with my range of evidence and our judgements were more or less exactly the same. Differed on just a couple of profile points but as they had only observed the 3 for half an hour and as we agreed on everything else they were happy to go with my judgements. Only recommendation was to try to keep more samples of children's independent work so am going to try to put a system in place for this but not sure how. At the moment when my children do any independent stuff they usually put it in their trays - what do other people do? Am not sure if I want children bring…

Moderation
by Guest- 5 replies

I recently went on a pre-moderation course. I teach in Kent. I think Kent could moderate in a much, much better way and had already shared my 'opinion' with my Early Years Advisors in September. I was very well received but heard nothing more. After the course last week I again shared my concerns and again got good feedback, so much so, that the Lead Advisor has asked me if I could give her some more information about how other LAs do it (I am particularly interested in Marion's moderation!!!) I am amazed that the LA's don't seem to share or talk to each other, but could you please let me know how you are moderated in your LA?? Just for the record, Ken…

Moderation

Hey everyone. Right, I'm sure we are all always considering the best way to moderate etc etc. Well, I've been thinking (always dangerous!). There are good examples in the FSG but they are often a little too twee for me. I did get the idea off the forum to compile a moderation file to keep in the classroom that I build up. Have come around to this idea again and was wondering whether we could make this something we do online too. I would be more than willing to submit my observation examples (obviously if either typed up or scanned) and link them to an ELG statement. Children's details would have to be changed for obvious reasons, but if people are willing and the f…
