I am a FS Co-ordinator in a primary special school for children with complex needs asd, sld and pmld and I have been asked to develop play throughout school!!! I think it is a brilliant way of helping the older children to continue to learn through play, but wondered if anyone out there had a similiar role or could offer any useful advice, links etc. Thank you very much in anticipation of your help.

When To Fill Profile Out

hi, I am an NQT - just wondering when we have to fill out the profiles for this term. Do people usually leave it till the end of the term or should I have been filling it out as I go?? Also I have a class of mixed reception year 1's should I fill profile out for year 1's? I work at a special needs school and so are still using FS for the year 1's as well. thanks

In relation to the topic "Predicting yr 2 sats" which firstly Id like to say thanks for all the info you gave me, my head has today handed me "Focus Foundation Stage Progress Tracker" for me to use in order to assess my children and predict sats etc. Anyone else using this? If so it would be fab to hear your comments- Im busy looking at it now and theres a lot to take in.

I know this discussion has probably been had before, but I need some advice. My Head has given me the job of finding a way to somehow predict yr 2 sat results from ideally a nursery baseline or definately the profile scores. I know that it isnt that easy to use the profile against the NC levels but Im sure others are doing this already. Can anyone share with me what they are doing? Thanks

Is anyone else aware that the results of last years FS profiles has been included in the latest set of Making Figures Speak? Some schools in my area got 100% in some areas of the profile so that means that all the children got point 9?!!!!! I JUST DON'T BELIEVE IT!!!! What happened to the message that point 6 was a good average?

I have been thinking about the way I do assessments and just wanted to clarify whether I'm on the right lines. After looking at the forum, I have set up a file for each area of learning and a wallet for each profile statement in each. In each wallet I was going to keep any observations, post it notes, photographs and group observations linked to that particular profile point. Is this the correct way of doing it? Do i need to be collecting anymore evidence. With this system how do you make sure you have evidence for each child to justify where you think they're up to? I have also set up another file which has each child's name in and in here I keep a record of the letters …
