I have to delver some training on the FSP next week, to a mixture of collegaues from experienced FS to experienced but not in FS to complete no expereince of FS. I want to get the balance right between telling the newcomers what they need to know but not doing the grandma suck eggs things to thos ewho Ive worked with since the FSp began. I was wondering of any of you had used the toolkit CDs for training and if they are any good? Ive not yet been able to get my brain into gear. Thanks

Also i came upon this site and thought it would be a great way to 'meet' other NQT's and Foundation/Year one teachers! SO please contact me if ya want to! Please reply Many thanks for your time

Our new FSCO went on an FSP curse last week (she has no experience in FS so is'cathcing up') and came back claiming that there will be future requirement to fill in the eprofile in nurseryfrom next year from the beginning of the year so that by the time the children reach the end of reedception there will be 2 years of entries on it. My suspicion antennae are working overtime and I think this could be her putting her own spin on the situation, but has anyone esle heard or been told this? I dodnt think there was space anyway to record nursery for the whole year and how managebale is it to keep 2 cohorts on the eprofile? Im really not keen on this replacing our own nur…

80% Child Initiated Required!
by Guest- 19 replies

Did not get on that well (again) at our recent moderation meeting. The same old problem - we are required to have our Profile points ticked off mainly from evidence gathered from child initiated observations. We were told that next year they will be looking for 80% evidence from child initiated observations and 20% from focussed activities, assessments, etc. (and be quite strict about it!) In an ideal world, with 12 children in your class, I can see this would be great BUT with 30 I am just not so sure this can actually happen - talk about a very long-winded hit/miss system to gather evidence. Are others working for the 80% / 20% split. PS I teach i…

Now that we are being told that the average score for a child in the profile is about 6 what happens to point 7,8 and possiby 9. Do any of you work in schools where these points are picked up in Yr1. In our school they are not. As soon as children enter Yr1 they start on the National Curriculum. It really angers me as it is liking they are saying the foundation stage is not important so we don't need to 'finish it off' What happens in i=other schools?

Hi everyone I have been lucky enough to have been given a place as Nursery teacher in a brand new school nursery. We are trying to put together a welcome pack for both parents and children for our home visits in September - has anyone got a 'wow' example ! especilly for each child that they could perhaps bring to Nursery when they start? Help - please!!

Where Are Your Children Now? 1 2 3 4

I'd be really grateful if you would be kind enough to share your overall points score for one of your top, middle and lower ability children. I know things vary from area-to-area and cohort-to-cohort but I'd still be interested so that I can either rejoice in that I'm doing an okay job or sink into despair because my children are obviously woefully behind! Thanks!

Pre-school Transition Booklets
by Guest- 3 replies

Hello, Please can someone help me! I have just received the pre-school transition booklets from Nursery and the majority of the children have 'achieved' the first 3 SS (green level). If children enter Reception with the first three scores achieved then what would be their predicted score for the end of reception? My problem is that with the first three SS achieved then the prediction looks to be that the children should achieve 8 points on each level however I know that the average score is 6. Does this mean Nursery have over scored their children or is it the norm for the children to have achived the 3 SS by the end of Nursery? I hope this makes sense to someone and I…
