Profiles

Having recently taken over a Reception class i am a little unsure about the profiles. I have looked at the assessment completed by the teacher last term and a lot of children have already acheived on average 4 or 5 of the points. If we carried on at that rate most ch will have acheived all 8 points by end of spring and maybe some even 9. Is the assessing which is being carried out too leanient or is this level of acheivement about on parr with what others have experienced? The class on a whole are not exceptionally high achievers from what i've seen so far. How many times should we see a child do something before we can confidently mark the point as acheived? Any opinion…

Moderation

I am attending a moderation meeting this week and was wondering what to expect. I am an NQT and have to bring evidence of Physical and Mathematical development. I am really worried that I haven't collected enough evidence. Am I supposed to have evidence for each point? What type of evidence should I bring? How much evidence is enough for one point? I have been told that people bring stacks of stuff. Will be totally exhausted by the time I go on the course as I don't seem to be sleeping with worry. Apologies for all the questions.

Hi, I came across the profile document that had been put into a table on two pages ready to print and laminate for use in the classroom but I can't seem to find it now. I want to give them to all my staff so we can all have our own attached to our clipboards. Does anyone know where I can find it?

Cll Observation

Hi Just wondering if anyone can give me some inspiration. I'm being observed teaching CLL (any aspect) and our topic is growing. I am in nursery, all children EAL. Was thinking along the lines of making a class book about the beans we planted last week but really unsure as to how to organise this. Didn't really want the children to just mark-make and me scribe for them. Any help gratefully recieved. Thanksx

Year 1 Objectives
by Guest- 2 replies

Has any one got a useful document that follows on from Foundation Stage Profile and lays out the objectives into year 1. Having mixed age class 1 would find this useful when ensuring coverage of the Year 1 objectives particularly across foundation subjects and would help tp assess the year 1's in a similar way as the reception children. Thanks.

Profiles/record Of Achievement Books
by Guest- 28 replies

Hi, I need an honest answer from all reception teachers! A member of staff is really upset as she (and all staff) are spending hours and hours on these record of achievement books to cover the foundation stage and after a visit from a relative (who is a teacher), she is now thinking seriously about her job in pre-school, she was told that they don't even have time to read them and are set aside and use their own assessments. This is fine, but why make us work under this enormous pressure, we spend so much time and energy on them as we are a very large group. Other aspects of pre-school are sadly taking a back seat (FUN) as we are over worked. All books have to be take…

Moderation - Moderators Meeting
by Guest- 7 replies

Hi guys, Got the moderation letter through today where it looks like as i was moderated last year i wont be this year. MD and PD are being looked at and my first question is, what evidence do you keep for pd? I have some observations and photos but these often are either blurred or look set up! What does everybody else do? Also as part of the moderation, cluster groups get together to decide what levels are what, the moderators then go out into school to do their job. Has anyone been to one of these meetings before? I've been asked to bring evidence for the two area but i'm not really sure what they'll want to see. Thanks

I Haven't Got All The Profiles
by Guest- 5 replies

I am an NQT, new to reception. I teach YR/Y1 and currently have 16 reception. The only problem is that I have only been given about 8 profiles from the nurseries. Do I have to start a profile for them from scratch?

2005 Profile Results Questioned
by Guest- 15 replies

Hi Guys, Having had our school improvement advisor visit us this morning our head dragged me and the nursery nurse into her office to discuss the 2005 profile results. Most were fine and in line with the lea average except PSED which had jumped from 16% working at the ELG to 90%. (my results) and CLL - writing which had jumped from 40% working at the ELG to 90%. How can only 16% of a class achieve the ELG? Isn't this quite low? Anyway... I am now being questioned why our results this year are so different and do i realise the pressure i've put on KS1 to achieve excellent SATs results. The boss now wants to see evidence of why these results are so high. I d…
