Profile Scores

My LEA introduced a Foundation stage profile 3-4 years. Its exactly the same format as the full FSP but starts from a lower base. I know that points 4-8 can be achieved in any order and 9 can only be achieved if 1-8 have all been achieved but my question is do 1-3 have be achieved before 4-8 can be? I know someone out there will have the answer thanks Whitetree

Help!

Hi everyone, A few weeks ago I found an excellent assessment grid on here. Someone had managed to fit all the stepping stones and ELG's onto one page and made it into a grid with autumn, spring and summer on. It was for using individually with each child. I used it to send off my FSP results for a child who had left. Now I can't find it, can anyone point me to it? Many thanks! Jess

Value Added

Was just wondering what everyone's Value Added looks like? Our two reception classes vary, (but they are very different classes). One of them seems to have increased by around 2.5 scale points on average across all aspects the other by about 3.5.

Just wondering what everyone's scores seem to look like. Lowest was 29, highest 92 with an average score of 58. Have 14 IEPs in class and one Special Needs child who will have to have alternate assessment. I still feel that on some accounts I was overly leniant - but was pressured to circle because they didn't seem to have very many!!! (Not my want!) Thanks!

Moderation And Indicator 9's!
by Guest- 14 replies

Well! just another day at the madhouse! Today I spoke to my moderator who is coming in to visit on Mon... i told her that I have no indicator 9's in CD or CLL..... she said i should look at them again! Yes i have free readers, but their reading is stale and stunted. These are children who have been flashcarded from birth and who read like robots, it is really hard to achieve any kind of fluency, style or expression from these children. Therefore I have put them as ELG. In writing I also feel Indicator 9 is so high and I would not feel comfortable giving children such high levels! I also think that Indicator 9 in CD is very hard to achieve, yes I have very creative child…

Hi, I know this will probably make me sound silly but how do i add the points at the end of each area. Do they get a point for each one they achieve? Also has anyone got a document of matching the Profile scores to the NC? My head keeps asking about it and i want to know what i'm talking about! Thanks

Profile Statement Cll5 Reading
by Guest- 3 replies

hello I am struggling with profile statement CLL5 reading - Shows an understanding of the elements of stories, such as main character, sequence of events and opening. The profile handbook has not really helped to clarify it but I think maybe I'm reading too much into it. Just wondered what kind of evidence others have and from what kind of activities (other than sequencing pictures from a story) people have used. any suggestions greatly appreciated Thanks Lizz x

Hi there! I too am being moderated on Communication Language and Literacy and I am doing those profiles but starting to get confused. For e.g. if I write say that the child can order 1 - 10 on the page in their book where they have done that (Reception kids) e.g. "this is an example of early learning goal number blah blah in blah blah area of mathematical development" do I ALSO HAVE to write in the profile under the mathematical development "today X put numbers 1 - 10 into order" and date it? Or do I write some e.g.s in the book and some on the samples of work? Also DO I need a sample of work and or a specific example for every single Early Learning Goal in the profile? B…

Sitting at the desk looking at profiles, thinking about reports. What do the rest of you feel about statements beginning with 'Understands ......' or 'considers' eg social nos 6-8 emotional 7&8. I've debated alone and with others. If a child makes comments that indicate their understanding, but then their actions show that they are not able to apply this understanding/consideration in reality, have they achieved it or not? Also any advisors out there, or 2nd hand advisor views re the debate on what levels on profile mean in relation to NC levels? My team has had critical comment passed on from year 1 staff who have said we've exaggerated children's levels. My…
