I've posted this in another discussion as well, but wasn't sure if this was a better place to post it and have it be seen - as I'm really stuck and looking for your collected wisdom! my question is: what are you all being told in your different counties / by Ofsted as age-related expectations at different points through the reception year? i had logically worked out that if ARE on entry is secure 30-50 / entering 40-60 and at the end of the year 'expected' ELG that mid way through the year it would be developing 40-60. However I have been told that ARE at end of term 2 (December) is secure 40-60. If this is the case, how do we track and show progress for the 'average…

I work in a nursery setting, as part of the childrens transition to Primary Schools we use the EYFS profile although when I've read about its completion it should be done in the academic year when they turn five...i.e. end of reception year, so its not required at nursery stage? Is there any other statutory requirement apart from the two year progress check that Pre-Schools should be carrying out? I can appreciate we need to forward information to the Primary School when they commence with them, to provide a picture of their achievements but on what format should this be done? Is there a common document that covers this? Where is the legal requirement shown? Also whilst…

http://www.education.gov.uk/schools/teachingandlearning/assessment/eyfs/a00217599/eyfs-handbook The change to the exemplification as far as I can see is a cover sheet with some additional general guidance but the actual exemplification I think is the same, before you rush to reprint. The Handbook however has some key clarifications so make sure you have this version for reference! The all essential ARA is still to come. Cx

Just trying to finding it. Actually I am trying not to do the SEF and looking for anything else I can find to do. All I want to do is go out for a nice Sunday lunch and a big glass of wine, wander home and read a book. Oh well!

Does anyone know whether the natoinal scores from last summer's EYFSP have been published yet. I keep looking but haven't found them and am being asked by the head how our school has done compared to the national picture.

can I just clarify, If children are learning English as an additional language but speak well in their home language what do I do for their on entry information for C & L. Do I take their ability in their home language? But I thought that they have to be assessed in English at the end of the eyfs, or have I got this all wrong? Please help!?

hi all we are having a but if self doubt with our base lining. we are desperately trying not to use the outcomes as a tick list but how do you show if children are just within or well with in a band without marking off statements. how do you all go about baselines?

Hi all, Just wondering what your reception profiles are looking like this year? Are they what you expected (no pun intended)? Mine aren't what I expected. Even though a very large percentage of my children have not achieved the 'expected' level (ELG) they have made huge amounts of progress from their starting points and I am hoping this is more of what OFSTED are going to want to talk about (if/when they visit) rather than how many achieved 'expected' or 'exceeding' etc... Would be grateful for any replies and thoughts. Thanks

I am currently completing my EYFSP and the amount of children achieving 'Expected' for writing is very low (less than 50%) and not much better for maths. As I have no benchmark (apart from the GLD from the pilot) and I haven't been externally moderated, I would really appreciate it if you could let me know how your class have got on in these two areas. Thank you in advance for any replies :1b
