Nursery education funding

Hi just wondering if anyone can advise? Fingers crossed they can I've got my own private day nursery and have children who access 2 nef sessions on one day- one in the morning and the other after lunch. Can anyone advise me on how they plan as some children will do two sessions on one day and another may do five morning sessions. How do I ensure each child is offered the same across the week? This maybe a silly question but I'm confused and want to ensure I'm doing it correctly. Any help would be appreciated :-)

I'm having a bit of a mental block. Just reading through the ELG for numbers and I don't think I'm clear about what this sentence means: Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer. It's just the 'quantities' bit I'm not sure of - could someone give me an example of what that means? Also, does it seem to anyone else that the ELG expectations are higher than those for level 1? I don't know whether I'm interpreting it wrongly but comparing it to APP exemplification there are things like ELG: add two single-digit numbers, Level 1: add numbers of objects with totals to ten. Wouldn't the EL…

Sims tracking progress document

Hi, We recently received a school comms containing a tracking progress document for Sims, i have just started to fill it in with data from pre-school but I am finding it a bit tricky as the pre-schools have been assessing the children within the age and stage bands from the old development matters. As we (Year R) are going to be filling in the next assessments around about december there is going to be a huge difference between our judgements and pre-school's judgements as some of the new development matters criteria is so different! So it will result in the progress going backwards rather than forwards in some cases. I have spoken to my Head and I am going to sta…

I have been told that the learning journies I supplied last year will have to be supplemented with an EYFS Cohort Data Analysis Sheet for reception class. I therefore have to go back to said learning journies and try and 'best fit' the children's development to the new EYFS 17 point framework. Am I doing the right thing? Would appreciate some help.

Interpreting Development Matters

Hi can anyone tell me what would do if you had observed a four year old completeing a complex puzzle, however when looking at the development matters in 16-26 months it mentions completeing puzzles sometimes successfully however this child is working at a higher level than simply attempting the puzzle but there is no further mention of this skills in the higher age brackets. Someone has said to just mark the observation at the level you feel they are working in this area of learning but im not sure that works help please

Chatter Box's

Hi I recently attended a celebration event in Matlock for a "Building Foundations Together" project which I had been a member of. During the day we share with other proffessionals our project aims, journey and outcomes; to help demonstrate this we display resources / activities used, photographic evidence, videos etc. One school and Early Years setting had devised some chatter boxes: (A chatterbox is a box which contains surprise items. They are put together to encourage children to talk and therefore develop their speech, language and communication skills. Children often want to talk about things that they have already had experiences about and know about therefore i…

I have had an email from STA. They say: The pilot is ended. The amendments to the draft document (only shared with moderation managers so far so don't panic - you've not missed anything!) will be made and they are "aiming" to have the final documentation and support materials to all stakeholders by the end of the Autumn term. Moderation managers will be invited to a briefing in the Spring term. Cx
