Hi, am going to be FS leader as of Sept and want to re-look at LT planning - currently it's basically just a list of topics, which Nursery and Reception do at the same time which doesn't make much sense to me. Was thinking we need to include key resources/visits etc. Does anyone have any LT planning sheets I could look at? Also we don't plan as such for outdoor play which is something I want to do, so againb, does anybody have an example of planning for this? Also the types of acitivities/areas you set up outdoors would be great. I would be so very grateful!! At present we have a formal report structure for each area of learning. As a FSU is set up towards more child initiated learning, can you be expected to report formally to parents on areas of learning and a childs' achievement for areas such as Creative Development, etc. I would be glad to hear how others report to parents in a FSU Many thanks

Hi there everyone It is a very exciting time in our school at the mo - builders have just finished phase one of the refurb work on KS1 classrooms and have started on the phase 2 - next step is to start on our new unit!!! - they think in about 5 weeks time - which i have just realised is 2 weeks after the easter hols! we are hoping all will be finished by sept and we will start the new year in a very new environment - thats the lovely bit - now i start to panic - what do we need to do before then!?!?!? does anyone working in a unit have a list of policies that we will need to create, ideas for planning - how to do it etc. and anythings to avoid - we dont want to …

Will Fs Units Be Statutory?

Wonder if someone can help me out? I was reading the Ofsted report for a school that I was applying to and it commented that the physical location of the Nursery and Reception classes would prevent them from becoming a fully integrated FS Unit. I can see lots of benefits from forming FSUnits but the wording of this report seemed to suggest that FS Units will become a statutory requirement in the not too distant future - or am I reading too much into it?
