Hi, I will be starting my NQT year in September in a FU with 26 children in reception and 26 children in nursery (But attending different sessions). I will be teaching nursery. Please can anyone tell me how they plan for nursery children who either attend mornings, afternoons or full days? If I do letters and sounds in am, then the afternoon children miss out...or do I repeat the session in the afternoon....do alternate weeks??? Any suggestions? Thanks

I am possibly being involved in setting up a FSU. I need to complete a presentation as to what are the benefit or not of this type of organisation of nursury and reception classes together. I would be a small unit, about 20 children and 10 Nursery. Are there any articles I could look at? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi everyone, I am a trainee teacher in my first year.I am currently working in a reception class and am trying to plan literacy around the topic 'In the garden'. We always have one group working outside and two indoors, I am just looking forsome ideas really to help me with my planning. I am planning on reading a book about flowers to the children for our introduction. I then thought one group could venture outside on a daisy hunt, once they have all found the daisies I am hoping to get them each to pick one, stick it onto a 'my daisy' worksheet and write 1 or 2 sentences about it. Any ideasare welcome as Iam trying to build up my bank of ideas for fun activities. …

I'm an EYP going for a job in a FSU next week!! For my interview I have to lead a short session with the whole group...a story and then lead a small group activity, before a reflective exercise of 2-3 scenarios to prep and then lead them into my interview proper...EEeek!!! This is the scariest interview EVER!!! worse than when I (mistakenly) thought I wanted to teach and had an interview at Homerton College Cambridge...LOL Any advice? They said I can pick a theme but I wish I knew what their planning was....would it be more professional to ask, explain i feel it'll be less disruptive to staff and pupils that way? Otherwise it could not go well, if I suddenly introduce…

Hello I have an interview at a small school for a reception teacher post. I am going to have a 25min interview with the head, 15min interview with the school council and a 25min teaching task. For the teaching task I need to use a text of my choice as a stimulus. I need to carry out a whole class input (12pupils) and then work with a group of 6 pupils (mixed ability) for the rest of the time. Any ideas? I am a bit worried about the time as I always feel it flies by and not knowing abilities etc. I did think about doing Billy's Bucket and either carrying out a speaking and listening activity or add in a drawing/writing activity but could take a while...help!! Fe…

Hi all I am an nqt in my first term of a temporary contract, and have an interview on thursday for a permanent job at my dream school, and need to pull an outstanding lesson out of the bag. The activity is to teach a group of 6-8 reception children for 20 minutes under the area of knowledge and understanding of the world. I have lost so much sleep trying to think of the perfect activity, but none of my ideas seem good enough. Can anybody give me a glimmer of hope as getting this job means everything to me and i really want to impress! Thanks in advance!
