Hi all, A long time ago, I saw a picture of a hand with open-ended question starters, eg how? why? etc written on the fingers. But at the time I did not save it and also have no idea where it was So I am hoping that someone out there using this forum knows what I am on about and can help me find it again Thanks KJH

I am moving the pre-school over the summer and now as i am starting(!!) to come out the pile of paperwork i am getting into the planning of the room. It is a large church hall (long and not too wide) very high ceilings/high windows and radiators along the walls....just to give you a basic idea. I have soooo many ideas as to what to do i need to narrow things down a bit! so my question is what areas would you have in the room? (i dont want to go with 6 areas of learning...want it to be more child led) sand/ water/role play etc etc etc help all ideas welcome!

Socket Covers

Apologies if this is in the wrong area - I'm not very good at choosing the correct area! I have started my EYPS summer placement today, at a Sure Start Children's Centre, run by the local Primary Care Trust. I was there last summer, also, and remember that the risk assessment forms for every session included a section to ensure that socket covers were all in place, however I went there today and they've recently been told, apparently from someone pretty high up, that they are to stop using them because, and I quote: "someone saw something on the internet about a little boy playing with one and getting electrocuted" Now forgive me if I'm wrong, but surely this…

Have been looking through the forum for ideas on fundraising. We held a parents meeting a couple of weeks ago and there wasn't much enthusiasm for fundraising but we desperately need to do something as we have no funding at all! Does anyone know how you get people like The Book People who will come in with goods to the Playgroup and we get a bit back on the sales? Also can anyone tell me how a sponsored scavenger runs - I know you pick out say 10 objects and give each child a card where they have to stick the items onto but how does the sponsorship system work? We want simple ideas that will generate cash with little effort if you understand what I mean so …

Hi, I am going to become a registered childminder in a few months and have started to think about practical things like childproofing...I live in a rented house and the landlord doesn't want me to install any childproof locks on kitchen cupboards as it is brand new...I am trying to think of a way around this...I could move all the cleaning cupboard materials into a cupboard high up or use ones that are attached by adhesives-although he will still have the same concerns that they will damage the cupboards/toilet etc. Any ideas? cheers

I am doing an EdD with Sheffield University and my research project focuses on teachers' perspectives on inquiry in the classroom. The research is overseen by my supervisor, Dr. Rachel Levy and has been agreed by the university's ethics committee. Although I am working with a couple of settings in detail I need to collect the views of a wide range of teachers so that I can set my case studies within a broad range of perspectives. So I need help. I have attached a survey in the form of a word document which can be returned to me at chris@eatonbank.com It's easy to fill in, no right or wrong answers, all views gratefully received. If you would rather do it anonymously …
