Dear All I am going to be doing a one off session of 45 mins for a group of about 12 three and four years olds which is fun and interactive but gives lots of ideas for parents to use at home to extend learning. Parents will be attending too but sitting back. After this I will probably run a course for five or six different sessions. Ideas I have so far for my one off are: Rhythm and Rhyme - having a song prop bag, instrument bag and then using different materials to songs such as tapping sticks, bean bags, scarves and the parachute etc. Then making their own shakers. Other ideas I have had are : a playdough workshop using different materials, words to desc…

Hi, just a quick question. When we started at Preschool we didn't have anyone in nappies, but of course, over the years things have changed, and we now do have children in nappies. This amounts to maybe one or two changes a day going in the bin, not a great amount. What I want to know is, what do we DO with them, as I say, currently they just go in the bin, as it's a smaller amount than a household would generate. I'm not sure, with such a small amount, whether it's financially sensible to have a chemical waste contract for them. Any thoughts?

Afternoon, I have a little problem that I know many of you will be able to solve!! I am a reception teacher and have a limited knowledge and understanding of nursery settings so I hope you can help. My school is situated next to a village hall which houses a pack away nursery for ch aged 2-5. It has recently been sold and the two new buyers are keen to build on the relationship with the school. I met with them last week and this is where my problem starts - I think they have been mis sold the nursery as the seller was keen to get rid of it and I feel they are going into this new venture with no idea on how hard it will be. What exactly do you need to open a …

Hi all, I have been teaching for ten years and currently manage 10 staff. I work with 3 to 5 year olds and have no experience with younger children personally. I would like to explore the possibilty of setting up a private nursery but do not know where to start or avenues to explore. Could anybody point me in the right direction. I think I would like to offer 0-5 care. Any info on approximate fees that are charged, how are you payed for free childcare places, rates of pay for key workers and managers, how many rooms would be needed and staff etc etc. Thank you

Hi thought I'd see if anyone new of any good all-in-one type waterproof aprons for babies and toddlers. After a recent move to the baby room and introducing freeplay in the arts and crafts/messy area, ive noticed that our aprons are just no good for toddlers having a good old splash in the water tray or creating a masterpiece with paint and glue on paper and themselves Our slightly older children use these http://www.kidsplaywear.co.uk/ which are brilliant but we are still having to change socks and trousers everyday on the younger children... Ive found these http://www.thechildmindingshop.co.uk/all-i...rall-1771-p.asp however they have no toddler sizes in stock…

Just wondered what job titles people use..... We have Supervisor Deputy Supervisor Pre-school assistant but now we have just employed 2 more member of staff, who will be working just a few hours a week, they won't have key children and will be very new to the role, although both have 'helped out' at lunchtimes. These two members of staff are now to be considered 'proper' staff and not just helpers, they will be learning more about the EYFS, observations, training courses, etc., the emphasis has very much changed from 'just another adult' to a full staff member supporting the children. However, I think there should be some distinction between our Pre-…

Does anyone use NCMA contracts for childminding? If so is it still a valid contract if only one parent has signed the contract?
