New To Nursery!

I have previously worked in the EYFS but with Reception children, the school I recently got offered a job in have asked me to work in Nursery. This will be completely new to me. First of all in terms of a topic to settle children in with does anyone have any suggestions? secondly I am worried about as for the moment it is only a one term job about getting involved with staff things, as I know that having been in Reception it can be hard to get to staff room etc...has anyone else had problems with this? Potentially being there for only one term, how can this be overcome! Any ideas/help appreciated!

One of my members of staff has decided she's going to get her lip pierced this weekend. I've kind of pulled a face and asked if she thinks it will be safe around the children. She's said it's no worse than an earring in that respect. Has anyone any thoughts? Trying not to let my personal feelings of a 'professional look' cloud what I say to her

Hi you lovely people Grovelling apolgies for asking but I have spent ages and ages searching the forum for a poem and I know it is here somewhere It's about a little boy at school who wants to paint and gets excited but is told to wait to be shown how to paint, there are a few verses - I think it's really sad as he ends up at a new school and waiting to be told how to paint. If anyone know the one i mean and can point me in the right direction I would be eternally grateful, it's not through a lack of hunting effort on my part honestly!!

Can anyone please help!! My head is spinning and I don't really know why this all seems so difficult suddenly! Can anyone explain how you calculate your fees? We have had several parents dispute the amount of their invoices this term, after we've changed the way we set them out and work out the extra hours over the entitlement... One parent whose child comes 18 hours per week has said 'I pay for wednesdays', there are 6 Wednesdays this term so that's what she wants to pay. - now I know this can't be right - parents can't really decide which days they want free and which they want to pay for can they? what if they all want to do it differenlty! Our term…

Hi everyone, Just wondered if anyone knew of any cheap food hygiene courses which can be done online? I am the leader of a small committee run playgroup, and at the moment we have very limited funds, quite a few of our staff and volunteers need to do this training so was wondering if anyone knew of a online group pack which we could buy ( thats if one actually exists). Thank you Clare

Children's Chairs

Looking to buy some new (mealtime) chairs for 0-2 age group would lurrrve the 'mealtime' (or any) community playthings chairs but they're a little out of my price range need good quality wooden ones that clean up easy (no fiddly bits that collect food lol), stack well (not much space) and can go the distance (a few years). Sides on preferable for the 'just out of highchair' stage but a little older than that are ok with just a back on...would be sat at a low table What do you use - are you happy with them? Thanks in advance hope you fab guys can guide the way!
