Hi Is there anyone that used to be a childminder and went on to open a nursery or start up one as a pack away nursery in hall/centre?? Did you find it easy to change over and how easy was delegation of duties?? If you are a pack-away nursery, what resources would you recommend

The sad news is that the local children's centre has been closed. The good news is that the resources and furniture have been shared around schools and other early years settings. I have really done well. Community Playthings table and four arm chairs, a drum, a pop up playhouse, and a brand new Maclaren double buggy. Anyhow, the furniture could do with a bit of a tidy up. Is it sacrilegious to paint CP stuff? Should I really just sand and varnish? Or should I go to town with paint and stuff? Maybe let kids at it? Feeling very lucky. Honey

Hi everyone. I have just finished my teaching degree - the BA HONS in primary education, and from April I have been working as a teacher in a private nursery. Just wondering if anyone has/or knows if it is possible to undertake your NQT year in a private day nursery? I work in the pre-school room, and teach using the Foundation Stage Curriculum. There are no other teachers in the nursery. Thanks!

Hi all, We currently have a child who eats everything she sees. She is two and a half years old. When I say everything, I mean everything and anything. As soon as she enters nursery, the first thing she sees goes straight in her mouth. She is not exploring the items with her mouth as a younger child would, she literally tries to chomp down and eat it. She eats everything from crayons and chalk, wood, the bristles on the sweeping brush and also picked mud off someone else's shoe and tried to eat that. As soon as we take tell her to take something out of her mouth, she just either puts it straight back in or picks something else up and eats that instead. I've not come a…

Hello all, We have a new nursery opening in September so I will have home visits for 40+ children to organise as well as settling children, some of which will be staying all day. Have been a reception teacher up until now. Any practical solutions very welcome. When should I do home visits? What do you take? 'General' timing for settling? Thank you. Rosie

So just starting to think about plans for the end of the year and wondered what everyone else does to celebrate the end of the year? We usually have a party with a bouncy castle and all leavers get a present at the end of the party. I also take a group photo of all the leavers and print it out for everyone and make individual cards covered in photos from their time with us.

Sorry if this has been covered, looked through the forums but can't find any info. Just wondered how school nurseries were going to offer the 30hrs and what your model looks like for providing it? We will be offering it but I can't see how I can organise it in my school setting, the logistics of the whole thing is immense for us. Most parents want 6 hours a day with the occasional odd request like 10-2-15?! Are you going to specify session times e.g a morning session time and afternoon session time? We just could not accomodate children coming and going mid way through the day. Any thoughts and ideas greatly received!

We are currently reg with Ofsted with Early Years Register and Voluntary Childcare Register and run a holiday club 2 days a week. I have had an enquiry for a child to come to holiday club who is 9 - can I take children over the age of 8? I have looked on Ofsted but information seems contradictory.
