Hi everyone - some suggestions as to how to help this child would be appreciated.. We have a girl, she is 3 and a half, she has been with us a year. She was born 10 weeks prematurely - she has some weakness in the right hand side of her body which very much impedes the speed at which she moves about (although she was walking at 19 mos )and very recently has been diagnosed deaf in the left ear. She has quite a lot of time off with chest infections particularly during winter months. Since J started at pre-school last September she has needed the constant support of an adult to cope with pre-school, at home she shows she is able to do lots of activities, but so ve…

Hi all, just thought I would let you know about easyfundraising... it's areally easy way to raise funds for your group and you don't have to do anything! except shop.... basically you sign up and then use their website to access amazon, boots, m&s, ebay, and loads of others and then everytime you make a purchase your group receives a percentage commission! And cheekily if you were use this link www.easyfundraising.org.uk/referral/24509 to sign up, my group will receive £4 and a % of what you make...... for referring your group.... Then you could post your referral link for the next person on here! we could all benefit then. Good luck, we've …

Hi, hopefully this is the right place to post this! I'm working in a creche with children from birth upwards and I need to set up a visual timetable. I know what a basic one would look like, but I want to make it as interactive and flexible as possible. We have some lovely cartoon images which depict our day here, and I have a space about a metre square at child level on which to set it up - can anyone who uses one sucessfully tell me what theirs looks like and how they use it? Would really like to make it something the children can benefit from rather than a static notice!

Hi All, Just wondering if anyone has heard of, or registered for, the 'Fun & Fitness Pre-school Sports Equipment Giveaway' ? I had an email forwarded to me and it just sounds a bit too good to be true!? ... suspicious mind! This is the link that was sent to me: http://www.havenfunfitness.com/ Apparently you just have to register your Pre-school or early years/Nursery setting and then get parents to register, logon and confirm their support. It does say somewhere that parents have the option of receiving information from Haven holidays, and it also talks about 'reaching your support target' - but I can't see where it says what the target is. Am wond…

I am considering eth possibility of going into childminding but I am worried that my house might I won't be able to do it. I live in a 3 storey town house, so we have a kitchen diner and a cloakroom on the groundfloor, on the second floor we have a 2 bedrooms (one being my little ones) living room and bathroom, and on the third floor another bedroom and bathroom. Do you think that the design of our house would be frowned upon and that it would mean that I would be an unsuitable candidate?

Hi folks- I just wondered what everyone's policy is on nursery children wearing the kara? We do say as part of the school policy that for P.E a child should remove this for safety reasons but can be worn at all other times. In nursery however, the children have access to an indoor climbing frame and the one outside too. Therefore we ask parents that if it is ok with them that while attending nursery it is safer that the kara not be worn and explain that if it is then this will restrict their child's access to certain equipment. I checked with the head and she said that the school has previously sought advice from the authority's R.E advisor who said that in agreement wi…

just wondering if anyone has experienced a child in their setting have fleas bites on their body. The parents are aware and the child has been given piraton and their bedroom toys etc all washed and cleaned. Do you think it's necessary to make other parents aware that this has arisen but obviously not discussing the particular child/ Cathy

New Outdoor Area - Soft Surface?
by Guest- 26 replies

I have input on our new nursery, building work commencing as I write. We have a reasonably sized outdoor area which at the moment has two trees and grass. My superiors are keen to put the soft bouncy surface over 90% of the garden leaving a small area for digging and planting. I think we should be brave and reduce the size to be made bouncy if indeed have any at all. What do you all think? If you were starting from scratch how would you design your outdoor space?

I have finally upgraded our children's computers and finally have all singing all dancing internet enabled windows 7 machines. However, I need to get some software for the children. All our old software was ancient and now won't work. Would love to hear what you put on your computers for the preschoolers to play with. Many thanks
