Snack Time 1 2

Hello again my FS Buddies I need to pick your brains again! Currently we provide children with a mid session snack consisting of fruit/vegetables breadsticks/crackers or similar and either milk or water to drink. We charge Parents £3 per session that their child attends per week for the half term so if a child attends 2 x a week they have a half termly bill of £6, if a child attends 5 x a week they have a half termly bill of £15. In September I am unsure if I can actually charge for snacks, especially for 'funded children'. Could parents be given a choice of whether or not they provide or pay for snacks. I would be interested to hear how other settings d…

Hi, I'm getting the runaround from this firm of nursery photographers so much so that I am worried my parents may never get their photos. Has anyone else had problems with them, or a good contact number or email as my contact rarely answers his mobile, emails are unanswered and the landline just rings and has no answerphone. There are two negative reviews on Freeindex about them being hard to contact and very slow so hopefully I will get my photos. I have parents chasing me, I've stayed in all day waiting and my poor dog hasn't had a walk yet. Great start to the summer holidays!

Has Anyone Heard

Hi Yesterday my sister in law asked me whether I had received notification of the coalition govt's proposed changes? for example ECM and the 5 outcomes being disbanded, plus calls to change the word 'safeguarding' back to 'child protection' - I said I hadn't heard anything at all - she works in the health service (targeted service) which apparently will no longer be referred to as targeted but known as 'fairer' service. Has anyone else heard anything? If so can you post a link please - I have searched but obviously am not looking in the right places. Thanks

Have spent a week hunting high and low for triple buggies to buy. The most reasonably priced ones cost nearly £200 each and are by Obaby and are available in all the online baby shops ... except they aren't! No stock til December Anyone got a different way of taking babies for a walk in 3:1 ratio? my Deputy today said she could ride a unicycle and balance the babies on her head ... other suggestions have involved similarly daft ideas - this is a real problem so I need real solutions. Any ideas? Anyone want to sell me their triple buggies? in anticipation ....! pwx

Kids Unlimited?
by Guest- 3 replies

Dear all, I've been invited to interview for a senior role at Kids Unlimited, but I'm starting to have second thoughts as everyone I tell says "oh" and then follows this with some terrible story they've heard about how KU treat senior staff, and how initiative and enthusiasm seem to get beaten out of everyone who works there. Are they really as bad as all that? I'm looking for a career move where I can settle and spend a number of years and want to make the right choice - the last thing I want is to find myself working somewhere where I can't use my initiative, and find myself struggling for motivation. Anyone got any advice they could give me?? Thanks!

Messy Play And Mark Making
by Guest- 4 replies

Please could anyone give me ideas for messy play/mark making with babies and toddlers. I have recently had jelly, custard, yoghurt, rice pudding, potato, jelly, gloop, coloured spaghetti, pureed fresh fruit. I am trying to think of things which they can put into their mouths which will be safe and also not too far away from their current diets. Thank you.

Hi everyone, I'm just starting(!) to think of the baseline assessments for my new Nursery intake in September. I do have the previous teacher's assessments used and some of my own but hoped I could compare them to some of yours too? Many thanks in advance for your help, x
