Was having a sort out in the filing cabinet today and wondered if it was necessary to keep information on students from college and those on work experience or should I shred it. Realised I had amassed quite a bit dating back to 2004. Thanks in advance, Mary

Hi, Im after some advice and a bit of re-assurance I think! Have this morning had to make a child protection referral. I know it was the right thing to do and although the person to which I made the referral to, sounded concerned its such a horrible thing to have to do and just keep thinking I hope it was justified. Although Im not a nursery, an out of school club I have a couple of questions: -Do the committee need to be notified of the referral? -Do OFSTED need to be notified ive made a referral? Also Im very aware that I need to keep myself and my staff safe in this situation, I have been advised not to talk to mum about this. Any tips on keeping sta…

Settling In Pack

Hi Everyone Hope you are all well! I was thinking of making up a pack for new children who are coming to my setting (private day nursery) to make the transition from home to nursey to easier for the children! I was thinking of making a book about the nursery they could look at, at home with their parents any ideas for what else I can include?

Hi, I'm getting the runaround from this firm of nursery photographers so much so that I am worried my parents may never get their photos. Has anyone else had problems with them, or a good contact number or email as my contact rarely answers his mobile, emails are unanswered and the landline just rings and has no answerphone. There are two negative reviews on Freeindex about them being hard to contact and very slow so hopefully I will get my photos. I have parents chasing me, I've stayed in all day waiting and my poor dog hasn't had a walk yet. Great start to the summer holidays!

Hello there, I just wanted to say a big thank you for your advice, I had my lesson observation yesterday and interview today. I've just been offered the Nursery Teacher's position and am thrilled. I know I'm going to be asking for lots of advice in the future and am already grateful to the forum. Thanks again!

Hi folks, I have a display at pre-school with different coloured boxes for the 5 outcomes of the Every Child Matters, then smaller colour coded boxes with statements that support each outcome, such as "we attend whole school assemblies", "we show the children how to use tools safely", I want to re-do the display but can't for the life of me remember where I got this from!! Does it sound familiar to anyone? Many thanks,

Written Task In Interview
by Guest- 10 replies

I have been called back for a second interview for a creche supervisor role. I really, really want it and have a 50:50 chance which I don't want to mess up! I will have to do a mystery 20 minute written task about "things I should already know". Has anyone set a task like this or had to do one at interview? I suppose it will most likely be about planning but wondered if anyone had any other ideas about what it could involve so that I can be prepared!!!

Hi Everyone, hope you have all had a good week! As part of our aim for the new nursery to play an active community role and in line with our health promotion values we have invited the local breast feeding support group to come and have a coffee morning with nursery staff and parents! I have never been to a coffee morning, never mind organised one, does any one have any ideas/suggestions about what we should do? Thanks Grafter
