Hi, I wonder if anyone would be able to help. I am looking for feelings cards to display in our preschool room. Does anyone have any ideas of where i can download some. I'd prefer whole faces rather than just smilies. Thank You

Hi. I've just been invited to a meeting at Local Authority to discuss the likely impact of the revised schools admissions code from September 2011 and it's likely impact on Nursery providers. I know that this will have a significant, if not devastating effect on our setting, but would like to hear from you guys on how you feel it will impact you, so that I can gain as broad a picture as possible and endeavour to represent everyone's experiences. With your comments I can make sure our Authority can more effectively begin to explore how best to address some of the issues raised (if possible). If there's anyone else on FSF who represents providers at their Local…

Hi all, firstly I don't want this thread to sound like a moan because it really isn't I would just like some ideas to focus our thoughts and raise a discussion in the setting... We have a large water tray in our outside tray which is located quite close to the water butt and digging area. The children persistently add mud and stones to the water tray which has caused a bit of unrest amongst the staff! Recently our pre-school children were playing in the water tray with different depths and coloured water. When we all went inside for snack time another group were outside and added mud to the water meaning that the pre-school children couldn't return to…

Won't Keep You Long But

With my ongoing issues at my new setting...can I please ask again for your thoughts.....I won't go in to too much detail as I don't want to bore you all and you have all been so great so far.......I am now being questioned (Admin Manager) at work as to 'health and safety/risk assessment' with the 'mess' - the 'mess' is toys, games and on this particluar occasion it was a train track that had been built across the room - I think it may be another attempt to antagonise me but I see no risk...children were so engaged in their play I am sure that they can manage to see the danger/risk of falling over a toy on the floor? Honest thoughts appreciated..... it is not the only…

The Dangers Of Pot Plants
by Guest- 14 replies

I was speaking with my project manager who says she knows of somewhere that was shut down for having potplants where children could reach them and possiby eat soil that may potentially harbour toxic bacteria. I have no other details of the case but find it unlikely because you should be maintaining adequate levels of supervision to make sure children don't eat the soil. A quick google showed little of value - you can buy sterilised soil, but I think that is to protect the plants rather than the humans. Also, how long is is sterile for? If anyone has anything to add I would be very grateful.

If a Primary school nursery is going to open in an afternoon for wrap around care, does it have to be run by a QTS or can a Level 3 do it? Morning is run by QTS.
