I'm sure we've all got things we do in our work - or resources that we have - which we feel really chuffed to have and make us feel all warm and cuddly when we see the children involved with them... what about a thread to share all the good stuff?? I found this in Wickes recently and immediately thought 'It's a mobile writing station'. www.wickes.co.uk/Heavy-Duty-Mobile-Tool-Chest/invt/165173 (wanted to post a picture but don't know how!) The bottom is now full of paper, clipboards, notepads, card, etc. The removeable tray like this one - www.wickes.co.uk/Tool-Caddy/invt/187000 - now contains pens, pencils, crayons, chalk, scissors, etc. And the little …

Hi all, Can anyone help with a document/discussion/article which might help me explain to my colleagues that when the children are participating in painting/gluing/craft etc. it's about their own creativity and thoughts that count - not what it looks like.... I've tried a couple of those well known poems - where the boy eventually waits for the teacher to tell him how to paint his pictures ,.....but the message doesn't seem to be getting through. We recently discussed we're going on a bear hunt and the children were provided wiht paints to 'paint' through the story. One of our two year olds had created a lovely stripey picture with all the colours in the righ…

Early Years groups around the UK are planning fantastic things for Sport Relief – and I’d love to hear about anything you’re up to…. Whether it’s dressing up, doing a Mile with your little ones, hosting a Sport Relief LazyTown Party, or doing something completely different, it would be brilliant to hear about it! Reply to this post or send me a pm – and we could even feature your story on our website! Thank you! Julia PS. If you’ve not yet ordered an Early Years Activity Kit, it’s not too late – get yours at www.sportrelief.com/earlyyearskits

Hi there, I am a bit confused and hope you can help...... We have a member of staff currently NVQ2 who wants to do NVQ3 but I understand that the courses/qualification is changing in Sept. 2010? From what I understand there is going to be a new more general NVQ3 qualification that is modular and people from different background e.g social care, education, youth/play work take the various modules that they need and put them together to get the level 3. Am I understanding it right? How do you find any info. on it, what is this new course called? The colleges don't seem to know what they are doing next year. We don't know how best to advise this member of …

Hi All I would like to know how all you nurseries deal with the situation of when a key worker leaves their room, for example to take a child to their parent. Say for instance their are eight 2 to 3's in the room with 2 keyworkers, the keyworker leaves the room for a few minutes with a child, so leaving the other keyworker with 7 children, do you get cover in the room to keep the ratio correct, or is it ok by Ofsted to leave the other keyworker with 7 children for a few minutes.

26 3/4 Year Olds And 2 Adults

Hello- As a nursery teacher, myself and my NN can have 13 children each, so we generally have 26 in the AM and 26 in the PM. If you are in a similar situation, or have any thoughts for me: - How do you organize your sessions/session so that you fit all the integral aspects in with only 2 people. I find that I am really struggling with fitting in observations, freeflow, snack, general help (such as writing names on paintings, sorting out squabbles, toileting, resourcing) and adult led activities such as circle times, L+S and PSRN. Not to mention the important bit of spending some quality play time with the chidlren and also modeling how to use the resources etc. …
