Hi Hoping someone can help me with regards coach trips and the use of car seats. We are taking the children in April to a local co-operative farm for the morning, at my previous setting a coach was used (with seatbelts) to transport the children. Does anyone know if this is ok or should each child be fitted with a car seat, we have 35 children on our books which would be a lot of car seats, not to mention time consuming. Has anyone else used a coach and if so did you provide car seats? Kris

Hi all - just needing to seek some advice/reassurance. I work in a village institute where there are obviously other users in when we're not there. Today one of the children found a 'tablet' whilst playing hide and seek. A member of staff was in the room observing their play - the child brought the 'tablet' to her.We were very confident that the child had given it to us directly and so didn't phone the parents. I should have done with hindsight! We informed them at collection - they took her to A&E! I have written an incident record and informed various parties such as the caretaker, Chair of Institute Committee and Chair of pre-school committee. Have drawn up a…

Care Of Under Two`s

Hi I am currently researching the care of children from 0-2yrs in a daycare setting. I have no expereince of this as I work in sessional care with 2-4 year olds. I am interested in the possability operating with mixed age groups, family groups, not rooms with seperate aged children. I am aware this is challenging as there needs to be a "seperate room for babies" as per Ofsted regulations. However ideally I would like to have family type groups so the child stays with a keyworker throughout their time at the setting. I would welcome all views and expereinces from anyone who is willing to share. Sally

Qisp

Hi The private day nursery I manage has to identify areas for quality improvement for QISP Quality Imporvement Support Programme from our local Early Years dept. We have to deliver training to staff and then evaluate ourselves, it seems very like a SEF, and we have to evidence how we do virtually everything in order for the local Early Years Dept to offer us targeted support. Any one done something similar or any ideas? I want staff to evaluate themselves in detail - all aspects of the eyfs, does any one have a detailed pro forma? Why do I feel like there is NEVER ENDING paperwork???

I have two settings, both Day Nurseries. We have large deckings and outside areas. Now, Free play has worked well until today - its cold outside, which is fine but the inside is cold too!. How do you get around this?. One option is to close the door and operate a bell system for an adult to open, but then this goes against 'free flow'. Help, I'm confused!. What do you do?

Had a prospective parent looking around today and some children were outside on trikes, the parent asked if we supplied the children with cycle helmets, as she always makes sure her child wears one at home. Erm....No Does anyone else?, Ive never really thought about it before.
