Hi today we had a mother that explained to us that she has had a really bad time over the weekend and that she threw her husband out. He has moved out but in the same town. She has expressed a wish that the father does not pick the child up at all and we should not let him with him, this is not a child protection issue its a parent separation. Im just wondering where do we stand on this. Can anyone help please.

Hi everyone I am in a pre school (sessional, church hall) and we have for many years had a calendar list dislayed for parents to write their names on if they would likes to come into session to help. Fine...we get the odd one per year (if we are lucky). So what has happened - a new term - I revamped the calendar to make it a bit more colourful, and we have been swamped with parents putting their names down on it....great....but as I wasn't expecting such the over-enthusiastic response I feel a little bit unprepared -this is where you come in. What can I give them all to do?????? in an ideal world I would love to give them a lovely printed handout of jobs/ways to help…

I have a new child starting with us who has a medical condition called Hemangioma which affects his lower face. I have found some info but just wondered if anyone has a child at their setting with this condition and what special measures did you have to put in place to support? I understand that if he knocks his face that it can cause bruising in the area affected.

We have a sign in /out register for parents but I want to implement a self registration board/method/activity for the children to do in addition to the parents one and wondered if anyone had a great one already working. i am thinking along the lines of something with their name on they have to find and place on a picture , shape, whatever to show that they can select their own names . I am getting bogged down with thinking of something where they all have the same shape ( we used to red apples on a tree but need a new idea ) as I feel if we do for eg. fish under the sea they will all be different coloured fish and they wo…

I have this parents at my nursery who really would like to run the nursery. The staff are in fear of speaking to them anything said about their child would be turned around and would be the staff's fault. They have a particular staff whom they like, because she always agrees to what they say, she is leaving now, and God help us because they would now say their child is not well looked after since she has left. The annoying thing is that she is so nice to the parents when they are there, but she is very lazy, and takes all the praise, but some parents have already cotton on to that. This parents are now complaining about tyres in the garden saying it is unsafe, and Of…
