Gentle Questions To Show Impact
by Guest- 4 replies

Hi, I've been racking my brains on this one. I need to come up with about 12 questions to ask at the start of our new 'nurture type' group. The questions will be asked both at the start of the programme ( about 10 weeks) and also at the end. The problem is how do you ask very open questions in a 'gentle' way. things like eg. How do you feel about attending this group? What types of play activities do you do with your children? We need to measure impact........ Would love some suggestions. Or if you have done something similar i would love to see how you recorded the impact. thank you so much. Sunshine

15 Hours Flexibility
by Guest- 4 replies

Hi, I'm a Nursery teacher in a maintained Nursery that has just joined together with a pvi nursery on the same site. Our rooms were right next to each other and we have now opened the linking door, so instead of 2 separate rooms and 2 separate outdoor areas we are one large one and are now offering the 15 hours (no set sessions, very flexibly!) We can therefore have up to 52 children in any of the 3 areas, 6 members of staff (whose lunchtimes and start/end hours vary) and all the children arriving and leaving at different times throughout the day!! Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep count (having fire nightmares!!!), and keep my staff happy - think were al…

Hello everyone, as you may be aware my situation in a new position has been slightly rocky to start with and I am still coming up against it with my Admin Manager.....we have our job descriptions, we have our roles and although she is of a different school of thought to me....we, last week had a good week and I genuinely thought things were going to be ok. Well today she asked me to help her with the SEF (that I wrote for her and she is tweaking) - so being the adult that I am I asked if she was ok with the changes I have made....I wish I hadn't asked she reiterated all of the things she said to me the first day she talked to me aggressively and angrily and said that the…

Circle Time
by Guest- 4 replies

I am currently working in a sessional pre-school, which when full, will have 24 children ranging from 2.6-4 years old. We know we should be doing circle time, and we are doing it, but have been advised to split the children into groups to ensure smaller circles relevant to their age/stage. The trouble we are having now is how to divide the children and when to hold circle time within each session. Some of our children attend all day so would, in effect be part of 2 circle times. What do you do in this instance because I would assume you wouldn't do the same session twice? In my experience, pre-EYFS, the children would come into the setting and have circle tim…
