Hello I am new to writing on this forum although have gained lots of ideas from reading other peoples comments. I work in a daycare/preschool setting, we have a baby room ( 0 to 18mths) and then our main nursery (18mths-5yrs). I am based in the main nursery which is an open plan room. We have set up very good continuous provision for all children. My Manager also the owner wanted us to work in family groups so that we had a mix of ages as your key children , I am not sure if it would be better to have small teams of staff working with age related children e.g one member heading 18mths to 2yrs another heading 2yrs to 3yrs and a third member of staff heading th…

Hi everybody These summer hols are starting to go to quickly now and although i have done some form of work everyday still feel like there's heaps to be done before i go on my surfing holiday down in Cornwall next week WAHOOO!!!! Last two terms i have been an NQT and i used our LEA proforma, which basically just has the 6 areas of learning where you add your activities and then on the second sheet, it has separate boxes for focussed chn, evaluation & next steps. Hi All I am planning for the children within my group to use their Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy skills to make a Spiderman Den. This is taken from their interests within their child initiated play. they will be using materials within the setting to make a structure using tubes, sellotape, using their problem solving skills to make the tubes longer putting them together and then cover with a blanket. Hi all, just a quick question before i head to bed...I'm doing the topic of Australia next half term, and on utube there is a 3minute extract delivered by the wonderful David Attenborough of a baby joey being born and making its way up to the mothers pouch. Do you think it is approrpiate to show children in Reception how a baby Joey enters the world? Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Not sure how to download the link but if you want to see the fascinating joey being born, then just utube it and put baby kangaroo. really hope to have your thoughts on this one. xxxx
