Hello all, thanks for the birthday wishes. Whilst having to work on my birthday may not seem like the best idea, the children in the holiday club have made me lots of cards and 'surprise' gifts, and with any luck hubby will have cleaned the house and put out the washing before I get home tonight.. Whilst the holiday club is a bit more relaxed than our pre-school sessions, it has given me time to reflect on cleaning issues (should be doing my Sef). At present we mop the floors each evening (and throughout the day if necessary) and I was wondering if any one out there uses a steam cleaner for this purpose. What are the pro's and cons. Would anyone recommend one which …

Well 4 weeks ago I was told by a father that he was taking his son out because he didnt believe what I had said about his child's bad behaviour and he was making a formal complaint to Ofsted, I thought as they hadnt come by the end of term that he was just letting off steam and hadnt done anything. Well how wrong I was I have just had a phone call from my chairperson to say she has received a letter from Ofsted with regards to a complaint. He has said that we do not care for the children properly, we do not provide learning opportunties and we are not meeting any of the requirements of the EYFS. Ofsted have said that we have to send them learning journeys and lots of oth…

Has anyone got any photos and ideas they can share on how to make a cosy, inviting and inspiring book corner? Especially pack away settings? Sure there must be photos on here somewhere but I have searched and searched so if anyone can point me in the right direction i would be grateful!

By the end of the week im back to square one! I just wondered how other settings tackle this? Does anyone have any tips? Or a room rota they would like to share? Jellytots

Hello everyone, What would you do if you noticed over a period of time that a parent had obviously been drinking alcohol? Mostly at collection at 5.30, but sometimes when dropping off after 9am. Your thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Lesley

Cleaning Toys & Resources

We've having our big clear out/clean up on Monday and I just wondered if anyone had any foolproof tips for a fast, efficient and effective way of cleaning toys and then getting them dry in time to store away again, all in one day I can just visualise us not getting very far with this as we are also planning to sort through and do an inventory and photos of everything as well. Someone suggested sending a box each home to parents to clean but I'm not sure that's such a good idea. Or maybe we could clean them over the course of next term one box a week. Would love any good advice.

Thanks Everyone - Clear Out Done!

Just wanted to express my thanks for the great tips I was given on here before today's clear out. We set up the 6 learning areas and then looked at which fitted with each, this helped us avoid too many plastic toys and to see where we were weak on certain areas. We now have an easy to access cupboard full of boxes of really interesting stuff, set out roughly in the six areas. I was a bit ruthless but I think the staff will forgive me. It was 'get rid of 50% of that', and 'if you haven't used that in a while then chuck!' Hopefully they won't sneak back in too many boxes over the summer
