Okay, we have healthy numbers for september and are offering a day of 840 to 310 with core hours of 940 - 1140 and 1240 - 1440. Lunch club is 1140 - 1210 and can be included as part of the 15 hours. We currently have 44 children registered just for preschool and can accomadate a maximum of 11 more children. This year we have ultimately had 43 children and have struggled to keep up with their files; How on earth are we going to cope with a potential 55 childrens' files? Does anyone have any ideas? I have proposed the introduction of a netbook for obs to decrease the number of hours spent outside work hours writing up obs onto learning journeys; I'd like all staff to ha…

Diversity Audit
by Guest- 12 replies

Hi all, I have been asked to conduct a diversity audit at my setting focussing on the resources we already have, and those we might need to purchase. The problem is that I'm not fully aufait with all the areas we might need to consider during this audit - it seems the more I think about it the more areas I come up with and am worried that I'll miss something. Does anyone know of any good websites or publications which may offer templates of such an audit? I'd be really grateful if anyone can help. Many thanks, Danielle

Hellooooo everyone, hope you are all well - and apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place Im just wondering who is collecting the vouchers and if anyone has a spare brochure?? I have put my brochure in a safe place that I really can't find it, I rang up and requested another one and they would not give me one They said I had to view the online brochure - the thing is though I want the children and staff to pick what they would like to order- I always have, and as we do not have the internet at my setting Im in a pickle! Please if anyone has a spare brochure they could post to me or even if you have already decided what you are ordering, and no lo…

Another Transition Question
by Guest- 6 replies

OK a distinct lack of work all half term has left me stressed on a Sunday night again! Quick question - if my transition policy (and all other policies for that matter) state that I work with teachers and other professionals, I have verbally mentioned my intention to invite teachers in to visit this half term and I will let parents know when the child's teacher is coming in before the day, do I need to get written permission from the parents to write the invites to the teachers? (OK not a quick question, but hopefully a quick answer!) Also the child is named in the letter because I have had experience of the teacher popping in before now and not knowing exactly who they a…

I Am Going To Cry!
by Guest- 10 replies

After months and months of being told there was money available, don't worry, apply, great project etc today we got the much anticipated letter Not a penny. We are in a church hall, can't offer any flexibility, can't offer free flow play, have a tiny concrete outside play space and basically need to move. We have the opportunity to move onto school grounds, into the old caretakers bungalow, it has a large beautiful garden, a brilliant play space and we could offer our kids the most amazing quality environment. Where did we go wrong? How on earth was the money allocated? Off to cry and implement plan c Kirsty xx

Computer Software

We recently bought a new laptop for the children to use. Bad news.. because it is Vista, It appears to be incompatible with our old DK CD Roms we had for our old one. We used to have them all on it as shortcuts so the children could choose. We have been advised to buy new ones but there are so many out there. Does anyone have any recommendations for Vista compatible CD Rom activities for 2 to 5 year olds?

Crb Check Parents On Rota
by Guest- 4 replies

Do you? We don't but ensure that no child is left alone with them. Have heard of a few settings that do, assume that is just 'good practice'. If we did do that I can see parents not taking part in rota duty. Your thoughts on the matter please ppp
