Hi, I know this is not in the area for foundation but we run an after school club and need some posters to put up in the cubicles/walls about cleanliness and hygiene. The boys are the worst, wee on the seats and the floor........BUT do not clean up. Glad I'm not like that!. Can anyone give me a heads up on some printable posters or text? Neil

Preschool Visits

Hi, This year is the first year that I have done preschool visits to the children who will be starting school with me in September. At the moment i am just saying hi to the child, and spending about 20 mins playing/chatting to the child and their friends (most of my preschools only have one child transfering). I am also asking the child's key workers if there is anything I need to be aware of and what the child is like. I am spendign roughly 20 mins to half an hour at each preschool. As preschool workers: is this what you would expect from a visiting teacher? what else could/should I be doing? This seems to be working for me - especially as I have 2 ta's cove…

Personal Chatter

I feel unhappy when staff spend a lot of time chatting to each other (and me) about their personal lives rather than interacting with the children. How do I handle it when someone starts telling me about how many drinks they had last night while I am in the middle of reading a story to a child (just one example!) without seeming rude. I end up just nodding and saying 'oh really' and then turning away to talk to the child/children I am with. But I think that I am coming across as rude because of this, and I don't want to completely alienate myself (I am not a supervisor so don't feel I can address it head on). What I would really like to do is think of some ideas to…

Hi Just been told today that i have been shortlisted for a job within a nursery that seems really forward thinking and that i would love! I have been told that the activity i will need to do is something to do with physical maths outside related to the topic of more and less. Have had a few ideas as follows but if anyone has angy great ideas could you please share them with me. the children could be divided into two teams and given puddle suits to wear. Each child then takes a turm to carry a small filled container (margarine tub) with water around the race track. When they reach the end they would pour the water left into a measuring container. At t…

I'm going to make some gloop for the children tomorrow. Any ideas on what I should provide with it? I was thinking of putting it on a tray and providing some teaspoons and plastic toy plates or bowls for them to spoon it on to. Does anyone do anything else with it that the children enjoy? I have mixed ages from 11 months to 3 years. Thanks
