I don't think this is a fair assessment - I feel the children we send to school are definitely school ready and we don't have an EYT - because we can't afford one. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-37827374

Hi there. We are a long established nursery in Brighton (30 years +) taking children between two and five years old. We are puzzled about the small amount of three year olds we have on our books at the moment. Looking historically overall, our intake this term for this age group is particularly low. Is this something others are noticing? If so is it nationwide or just across Brighton? As a team we have been exploring different reasons but nothing seems to be clear. On a positive note - a cohort with lots of two year olds is challenging but fun!

Yes, yes I know it's only October but the weeks are absolutely flying by at the moment. My committee had already booked our village hall for our nativity before we even broke up for the summer holidays!. I did say at the time we will have to see what the children are like nearer the time, as we have lost a large group of confident children to school. In my opinion the children that we have are not old enough or confident enough to put them in the position of being on a stage in front of loads of people just to please the parents. We have a committee meeting next week and I would like to explain my reasoning for not doing a nativity. There is always so much pressure …

I was under the impression that the checks for committee members were free, or have I just dreamt that in my befuddled brain? I can't remember if we paid last year or not. I was so excited at the start of term to get a few more volunteers on the committee, but I cannot afford to pay £52 for each person. I am so confused, just renewed all staff on the update service which has cost enough at this moment in time! Someone please spread some light for this confused, befuddled old bird!
