several of the parents have asked if we can organise some sessions during the 6 week break and Im keen to entertain the idea but Im not sure how it affects our registration... we are a sessional packaway preschool held in a church hall the church have said great idea the hall is not getting used during the summer just let them know when we want to open! we thought about just opening one or two mornings a week so that mums/carers could have a break (catch up on house work shopping and stuff) I think 6 weeks off is an awful long time to be closed and Ive been toying with the idea for a while I also thought one morning each week open a stay and play session so…

Hello all! I am having a little rant which I hope will lead to advice. Here goes.... I am a Playleader in a village Playgroup and we are 'run' by a voluntary committee (I say run very loosely). Now don't get me wrong my committee are very useful but we have such a problem finding new members for the next year. We are currently begging parents to think about joining our committee for this coming September and out of 15 children, we have only had one parent say yes. How am I supposed to find members when we can't even get parental support for fundraising activites (there's another rant for a later date), let alone mention the word Chairperson or Treasurer??? Vo…

At present we have a system where parents sign the children in and out. However we also have a register that is filled in as and when the children arrive and leave and a system of self registration for the children. We do this because we always have and now I am wondering if we need the parents to sign the children in and out. When I audited the system last term not all parents were doing it anyway and we go by the register for fire drills etc. What does everyone else do? Dx P.S I am trying to reduce my to do list and printing out the signing in/out sheets is next on the list.

Packed Lunches

does anyone know where to find a leaflet to give to parents regarding a healthy packed lunch or has anyone drawn up some guidelines? I would like to say something about food being healthy and also about food hygiene with regard to preparation and keeping food in date without sounding too patronizing. Just been updating my risk assessments regarding food hygiene - we can't really do much about lunches prepared by parents can we? have so much to do at the moment does everyone else? sometimes it gets too much - thought I'd be able to do something over Christmas but too busy with shopping, food and family! Feel down in the dumps about all this paperwork! What a mis…

by Guest- 9 replies

Hi all, I was advised by our local Special Needs School who we have links with that there is a video of a Visual Time table on the EYFS disk. I have spent 2 hours trolling through it ( slightly distracted by other interesting things of course) i can't find any reference to the video in question so thought i'd ask you lot as you know everything! I really just want to see one in action to know what to put on, when to introduce it and go back to it as at the moment the one we have is just sitting there. i didn't develop it and it isn't working. PLEASE PLEASE help me - we have several children in need of this after the hols...

Use Of Outdoors

I am the manager of a day nursery with children from 3 mths to 5yrs. The nursery is broken up in to four age groups and although babies get air when not walking every day by going out in their buggies. the other ages each have their own garden for free flow. however a problem the staff seem to be having at the moment is with the weather at the moment they can not keep the doors open as it is too cold and lets all the heat out, but if they close the doors the children do not seem to be as interested in going out? any ideas on how we can change this?
