I'm sorry, I know it's been discussed before but I can't find an answer to my question, so here goes..... For those of you who wlaready provide extended sessions, 3 hours plus lunch club, then another 3 hours, how is is working? We need to fit our hours around the school times not only for traffic congestion but also in consideration of those collecting other children from school. so far our proposals are: 9-12, 12-1230, 1230-330 - flexible with core hours 930-1130 1230-230 , difficult to staff the 3-330 slot especially when people are late picking up 830-1130, 1130-1200, 1200-300 - too early for the younger children, some already struggle to make it 915 8…

After reading all about home/school diaries on here and following lots of discussions with staff I have decided to give them ago for the summer term. I am about to order books for this purpose and just wondered which type of book you all used and whether you had any good advice about where to buy from. I will need 50 books so want as low a price as possible. Thanks

Can i have some views on using your personal mobile to take photos during the sessions. We were decussing this at a recent staff meeting. Is there anywhere that states you can't use your own fone to take photos during the session. Does anyone else use their own phones? Is it ok to use your phone longs photos are deleted before you leave work.

2010 - Offering 15 Hours Per Week 1 2
by Guest- 30 replies

Hi, hope someone can help. Presently we open for 2 and a half hours each day Monday to Friday. In September 2009 to prepare for September 2010 (15 hours per week) we are planning to change our opening hours and perhaps open mornings and afternoons. The problem is we don't have the community centre long enough each day to open for 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon. Can we open for 3 hours in the morning and have a shorter 2.5 hour session in the afternoon? Not sure if this is an option and even if it will work. If you work in or run a Pre School and already offer longer sessions can you let me know when you are open? Can children make up the 15 hours in a…

Ok you lovely people I think I know the answer to this but am interested to see if others agree!! If a setting is registered to open from 8-6 and the 'odd' child arrives at 8am (3 at the maximum) and the vast majority of children arrive at 9:15 is it necessary to have at least two members of staff present from 8am? or is it OK for the manager to be on her own with up to 3 children for up to half an hour until other staff arrive at 8:30

Hi, we have a new little girl who just responds by sticking her tongue out. She can speak quite well, and will happily boss other children about, but if they speak to her, or we speak to her she puts her tongue out. If we take a photo of her engaging in activities and she's not looking, it's fine, but if she notices the camera, out comes the tongue. She doesn't smile much - in fact hardly at all. We have seen her smiling and laughing, so we know she can! Today she brought a book back to Preschool all ripped and drawn on, and put her tongue out again when I asked what had happened to it. Her home diary is ripped (only had it a week) and drawn all over. When I …
