Accidents Do You Review Or Monitor?
by Guest- 8 replies

Hi all Does anyone monitor their accident book and existing injuries book? Do you use a form to say that you have and what would the results be following on from such a review. Anyone got a form I could use? I think for child protection we should be reviwing existing injuries and for risk assessments the accident book but I cant come up with a method of recording. Any ideas? Thanks all

Hand Washing - Sharing A Bowl
by Guest- 12 replies

Hi everyone I think this has probably been covered before, but I admit am a little lazy to know where to search for it (sorry). I have heard that settings who share a bowl of water for hand washing after craft etc. are beig marked down in the Oftsed reports because of poor hygiene procedures. Has anyone come across this? Has anyone got a solution if you don't have a sink in the room because you are in a village hall? (please don't suggest to buy a portable sink - been there before - totally unworkable - no storage space and children couldn't reach without needing to climb on a stool - risky in itself especially near a splashed floor). Can anyone tell me what …

Risk Assessments

Hi I'm really sorry if i have started this in the wrong place, but i feel as if i am going round in circles....what a way to spend a snow day! Brief background my manager left at the begining of the year and we are still trying to sort out all of the paper work. I was just wondering what risk assessments you make/write down as this area is still a bt of a mess to be honest and everone at my setting has conflicting ideas on this. However,we are due ofsted soon and i'd hate our good practise to be over shadowed by something we could have prevented! Thank you for all your help in advance x

Circle Time And Hall Time

Hi everyone, hope all your nurseries are open. We have not had to close due to the snow. All parents and children disappointed, so we have been playing out in the 'little' snow we have during session time. I would like to run something past you all. I'm sure I will receive different views, but I would like to see what the majority of you have to say. We operate from a rented portacabin (one large room) on a school site. We have 18 children each session. We have been given permission from the headteacher to take our children in to the school hall for music and dance and also the use of the school library to hold our circle time. Circle time is offered 3 times …

Snack Portion Size Resources
by Guest- 13 replies

A long, long time ago I had a wonderful display up in the pre-school all about the changes we were making to our snack time and the involvement of a wider range of food stuffs. Then I took it down, put it away "somewhere safe" and forgot all about it. Fast forward a few years and I decide it would be useful for a variety of reasons to put it up again, or at least the parts that cover portion size and give me inspiration about what we can offer. So I go to the safe place and it isn't there (the safe place isn't even there!). I go to my external hard drive, praying I have it on there as I recently broke every PC in my house except my streamlined and super fabby laptop.…
