Please can anyone help me? I recently had a complaint from a parent who wanted to know why her baby wasn't doing a painting every day, what does he actually do all day etc (I wouldnt mind, but her son HATES all messy play anyway ) I explained that we do paint but dont necessarily 'produce'. Also explained about the EYFS and how the emphasis is on play etc etc. I remember reading a poem about a parent asking about a child what they did today and the child realing off how busy their day was and the parent just responds with 'what, no picture?' Ive found loads similar but not the one I'm after, any ideas anyone??

I am looking for so advice about how to deal with changing children in a school nursery and also any advice to give to parents. Should I encourage parents to send children in pants? Can I be nosey and ask how many hours of work you put in at home, and how many are paid? We are only a small setting (7 children) and I am paid for 1 hours planning. As we have only 2 staff I can not do any paper work durring session and the committee will only pay us for the hours we are open. So I get paid for 12 hours 15 mins a week (inc planning time). Since I started I have actually worked 13 hours in setting and approx 4 hours at home - so 17 hours a week! I know I am just getting started so maybe I am slow at the paper work and still finding my way - but I can't carry on working nearly 5 hours a week for free!! So before I dissuss this will the commi…

Iwas wondering if anyone has internet access in the room with children? what are the pros/cons of this? I am trying to convince my setting to allow us to have internet access in the rooms, so we can access information for children there and then - for example if we dont know the answer to their questions, if they want to see what something looks like etc also to access websites with educational games- as we dont have a lot of software, and even to link up with settings in other parts of the world to develop children's knowledge of other places/cultures. obviously there are some point in the EYFS to support the implementation of this: CLL- "Know that infor…
