Hi everyone, this might be a stupid query in the wrong place, apologies if that's the case. I have been allowed a SMALL amount of money for outside storage, providing it's waterproof and generally fit for the purpose (at my school even a gift is like a Harry Potteresque quest). What I'm looking for is bright, sturdy, stable, child friendly, moveable shelving. Does anyone know if it exists or are we going to have to invent it? Am also interested in tables that can be left outside- a sort of Ikea meets garden furniture thing. Thanks Posy PS Please will someone answer my post, the last time I started a thread (2006) no one responded and I was devastated!

Does anyone else work in a school foundation stage where the F1 and F2 are split geographically? We have a nursery (40 a.m with 1 teacher & 3 TA's /28 p.m with 1 teacher & 2 TA's) and an F2 ( 35 with 2 teachers & 1 TA in 2 classrooms joined by a corridor) but they are at opposite ends of the school and the head wants us to work together more as a foundation stage. The only times we really get together are for harvest and nativity plays, otherwise we are very much separate entities. Nursery has quite a good outside area which we are really working hard to develop but F2 have a bit of fenced off playground. We do have some rare Key stage meetings but even then …

Just thought I would let every one know how are new place is going. IT'S FANTASTIC    We have days where we don't have to put away, and we have heating on, we have space to have a proper Quiet area. We don't have to see funerals twice a week, everyone is nice to us, nobody is rude, they have had a beautiful new sign made for us (costly as well) big 6ft by 4ft at least its going up on the wall outside and will be see for miles. They have even been understanding about our cashflow problem because of the LA not allowing us an interim payment. We are stunned at the reception we have had it is so nice to have people treat us w…

Target Setting 1 2

Hi everybody, I have just been informed today of the need to have targets for the children in Nursery. By this I mean that we choose something that the child needs to achieve, then we place it on a board, and then when they receive three stars it means that they have achieved the target and a new one needs to be set. Is it only me or does this seem like a crazy idea for 3 year olds, particularly in the first term!! Any comments would help relieve my anxiety - one way or the other. Thanks

Cooking With Egg - Is This Ok?
by Guest- 7 replies

Hi just a quick question to a kind and helpful person out there. We want to make some biscuits next week but can only find recipes with raw egg. Is it ok to use raw egg with the children as long as they do not eat the raw mixture (some hope!) and we cook the biscuits thoroughly? Failing that - does anyone have a recipe for short bread or biscuits that don't need egg but also that don't fall apart? Thank you.

I have 5 very empty display boards. No problem you might say. Well normally not but last term the foundation stage consultant and ofsted both commented on their was too much adult orientated display. Example - we wanted a display on handas suprise healthy eating and all that. we cut out the fruit children decorated. i can sort of see their point but how do you get children who cannot draw and some just about cut make an orange shape. Example - Birds we cut out the shape children stuck on their bits and we helped them to make wings out of fans. yes we also put up paintings totally done by the children. Children are interested in dinosaurs at the mom…
