Had to post this. Just been on another forum ........... Cannot cope with 3 year olds that want to play and talk amongst themselves. Dont they realise they must obey adults? Of course it is all EYFS fault. What date is it- remind me 2011 or 2008, 21 days after it started. My heart bleeds.

I am just curious to know whether my last setting was just bad practice or the norm But what is the ratio when children are asleep? We used to have around 6 to 9 asleep in the baby room with the odd one awake and usually 1 or 2 staff depending on how many awake and 1 staff/student or 2 staff in the other sleep room with children aged 1 1/2 years to 4 years I often queried while at work but was never given an answer, most of the times it was on staff though at the other setting it was no staff with a baby monitor in the room and the other half in another room with staff with some kids who didn't go to sleep

Staffing Problems
by Guest- 12 replies

I wonder if any of you can help me with a problem I have with a staff member? I inherited the management of the playgroup I work at last year when the previous leader left suddenly. Most of the staff are great and have accepted that we had a lot of work to do to get things up to a suitable standard. However, one of the women is a problem. She has been working there longer than I have and she has done a Level 2. However, she has problems with dyslexia and now will not consider any sort of writing, no observations, nothing. Will not go outside as she has hayfever most of the year. Now she has asked not to do snack as she has lost confidence in herself and cannot really be…

Milk Issues
by Guest- 16 replies

Hiya everyone! A friend of mine called me the other day because her school is charging her £1.75 a week for milk. Her daughter has just turned 4 and started Upper Foundation/Reception. This doesn't sound right to me, bus as I'm new to the job I dont really know. She's not too keen on paying though, as it works out very expensive. I know at our school we ask for a voluntary £1 a week to help with baking/ food tasting and bread for toast, but this is voluntary and I'm sure none of it goes to milk. I thought children had free milk, at least until they started Year 1? Can anyone shed some light? Thank you.

Hi all Just wondered when do pre-schools take on new children? Do you do it straight away (if room?) At the start of each term or half term? Thanks

Well we have a child who speaks very little English which is resulting in agressive, fustrative behaviour. I know as I have felt the full force (off to docs later). Mum who again speaks very little English too ends up having to say with him, strangely enough dad stayed today and had no bother but dad did look a little lost at times . I have tried to get in contact with the people on the my LEA with any luck yet. The problem is I don't know where else to turn to get some basic language would help or other stragigies (sp) would be good too. Does anyone have any clues Please? Thanks Beth
