Hello, This is my first post and i am sorry to say that it is a whingy one!! (and a bit long) I am the manager of a private day nursery which is part of a chain. The owners of the nursery have decided to change our contracts. I have looked into it and apparantly, with negotiation, this is legal. Please can anyone in similar employment to me share what their contracts demand on the following topics: Do you have paid lunch breaks? How long are the breaks? How long are you required to give as notice should you decide to leave?? Are there any restrictions on when you must or cannot take your holiday? Do you get paid for overtime?? (By this i mean when you …

Hi there, I start a new job in september as a nursery manager, it is a 39 place unit in a morning and 20 in an afternoon. There are two members of staff ( nursery nurses). I have taught Y1 and YR and am confident planning for continous provision. I have organised my nursery and have key area of provision. Outside needs some organisation but I am confident planning for and organising this. I would like some advice regarding the following 1) timetables of daily routines e.g. how many focused activities per week? Hi has any one got at formatt for a play policy. With all the paperwork that has been thrown at me in the last few weeks its something that I've forgotten to do. And if any of our local advisory teachers are part of the Forum and I don't know who they are then I really couldn't careless if they think I am doing something wrong by asking. Sorry to the rest of you but I got told in no uncertain terms one day that I shouldn't ask for things on the Forum as it would mean that it wasn't "Mine" but as I said I have so much else to do it the layout that I can't think how to do at the moment, and just writing pages seems boring and no one will take any notice of it. Tired …

I am trying to put together some training on PSRN/ numeracy to help staff see how many activites can offer maths oppportunties and how they can obsreve the children and identify their skills/ progress against 'development matters' stages. Wondered if anyone out there has anything that could help me get started from training they have done before/ good training exercises, links to elsewhere that may help etc? Hoping someone will be able to save me from re inventing the wheel from scratch! Thanks

Hi I just thought I would let you know that the annual fee has gone up to £25.00 for sessional settings. I'm glad my wages bill doesn't demand the same percentage increase. I am still waiting for my full day care one and I hope that is not adopting the same percentage on the rise.

I have just selected a member of staff to fill the role of behaviour management co-ordinator and that think it would be a good idea to get her and myself on a training course, to update our knowledge in this area. We are mainly interested in new techniques that are used and different formats to record behaviour / observation formats etc which are up to date. Does anyone know of any good training that takes place in Hampshire or of a training company i could contact to come to us. We are limited financially, although there is a bit of money left in the pot so could stretch ourselves if the training was worth it. Failing any training recommendations, do any of you…
