sorry for repeating this question, thought it mght be better to start a new thread for it! We have been given a grant of £1,500 (LUCKY us!) to buy IT equipment:pc's;camera; printer/scanner etc. This money can only be spent on such equipment, or we lose the grant. So, any recommendations on what to buy please?Any particular PC, or laptop etc which you have found particularly robust for under fives??A camera which is sturdy enough for the children to use as well as the staff? If you were given this lovely lump sum, what would YOU buy??

I know this old chestnut comes up every year!! Has anyone got any exciting/ inspirational (or amazingly cheap!) ideas for leavers gifts at the end of the summer term? Or do you have a good idea for places to purchase gifts? Maybe you don't give gifts but celebrate leaving in another special way?? We usually present Leavers with their Learning Journey books and a present such as a book or a mug filled with sweets or pencils at the end of our party on the last day. I found a lovely leavers poem on this site which I thought would be good to put at the end of their book. Any suggestions very welcome!! Ann x

Hi there, I have a new employee staring at the pre-school soon and feel my terms and condtions of employment might be a bit out of date since the last new recruit was 5 years ago!! Is there any one out there who is either happy to share their current paperwork with me or sign post me on to the right place? Thank you x

Right for our school leavers this year we though we would have a party on the last Friday of term. Now I delaged to a member of staff to look for an entertainer we did have one in mind but its too expesive and more for older school children. Anyway she found another person that is more for pre-school aged children. She spoke to them and they will be avialable (sp) on the day. Now is there anything we need to do apart from checking there CRB (haven't got a clue how to do it?) before booking them. I know that pre-school would love what they have planned - lots of fun, games and a disco with bubbles. My mind gone to mush because............................…

Refusing To Apply Medication

I'm feeling in need of a bit of reassurance - you're all good on here for that! Also maybe the issue I'm raising may be of interest to others. Last week a parent filled in a form authorising us to apply a non-prescription cream because of a skin conditon that she was seeing a specialist about very shortly. [i forget the exact details] With the revised EYFS in mind I was fairly happy to accept this: I do know the family quite well and had no qualms really in the circumstances. Today the parent talked to me about authorising another person to collect the child, and I think in doing this she forgot to advise me of any changes to the child's medication. The child then…

Hi, Can anyone recomned a Quality Assurance scheme? I have information on the PLA are there any others that anyone has experience of and would like to share? We are still on tenderhooks waiting for Ofsted, we had a spot check from the early years team and they thought we were satisfactory which is great news as we were inadequate 3 months ago!

can anyone help me on this one please? At what time do the children cease to be our responsibility - when the parent comes in and takes them or when they actually leave the premises? Also is this up to the setting or a legal requirement? We last week had a child who ran straight out and across the road - thankfully an empty road - he had already been passed to mum but it gave us all a fright and we are considering ways of tackling this Thank you
