As from September we have decided to introduce a snack bar for the children and to ask parents to provide their own child with a healthy snack. Does anybody have any information regarding what snacks parents should or should'nt provide and do you ask parents to provide a container with the child's name on with their snack inside. thanks

We have 2 children in my setting (brother & sister) who only have 2 packs of crisps for lunch & a fruit shoot drink. Has anybody had anything like this in their setting? what would be the best way of approaching parents about this?

More Structure In The Day?
by Guest- 9 replies

Hi all, I'm an 'about to qualify' (hopefully) EYP and working in a large Private Day Nursery. I've just returned into the Pre-school age group, having worked down all the other age rooms since starting our in PS in September last year. The room leader is out of the room a fair bit at present working on new plans for the EYFS - this is causing disruption and they don't seem to function very well without her leadership -staff and children go into chaos mode! She's very aware of this upheaval and has asked me for my thoughts including trying to revise the daily routine (see attachment) to be a bit more structured. Go back to this for a time to help the room to 'settl…

Hall Based Setting Clearing Away
by Guest- 23 replies

Hi All, Our setting is hall based so we get out and clear away each day. We run free flow system, though we stop for circle time at 10.45 - children split into three groups for particular developmentally appropriate activity - some resources are put away such as craft and water. Free flow again until 12 when we split into two groups, whilst 2 adults clear away the hall. Children are sitting down for around 10-15 mins - usually do weather, show and tell and story. We then have whole group activity at 12.15 in the hall such as creative dance, parachute, pretend to be in a space ship etc etc. - We all sit down again 12.30 for singing time - children go home at 12…

something ive been thinking about wondered others views at the moment my children love exploring selotape, just sticking strips on paper, sticking straws and other pieces of paper to card etc etc, dont get me wrong i love to follow the childrens interests and the learning is great, but they go through so much and im getting slightly conscious of just how much they are using and whether i should allow them to explore how they wish or try to explain that we dont want to waste paper or resources and about being envrionmentally friendly. ???
