Show And Tell

Advice please We have registration/circle time half an hour after the children come into the setting after initial freeplay My children at our setting get really involved with show and tell, normally stand up and show their jumper, cuddly toy, hairband as well as ocassionally some individual things from their weekend travels. The thing is, whilst Im delighted that they want to come up and talk and its great for their self esteem and confidence, I feel that the children are sitting for too long as the majority come up to have "their moment", on one occassion, all children were up and there was none on the carpet to be shown. Could you tell me what you do at yo…

Hi guys! I am on my placement training to become an EYP. The Pre School manager has asked me if i would like to help her motivate and overcome the bad atomosphere within the team, it would be great experience for me and I could use it within my evidence folder, I have a few ideas but as I am only a full pathway student, with no management experience, I would love to hear some of your experiences and ideas of how to create a good bond between staff. Thanks very much! xxx

Hi All I have a child in my setting who has same sex parents - and I wish to purchase some books which reflect how we all come from different families ie sometimes one mum, one dad, two dads, two mums etc etc - I could really do with some advice as to how I ensure I am meeting this particular child's needs ? Have already formed a wonderful relationship with the child's parents - any ideas and experiences you all have would be really welcomed. Dot

Hi there, I'm going to be new to Nursery in September, and am meeting parent's at the beginning of July. I would like to make a information leaflet that included details of what we provide for children, a overview of planning and perhaps ideas for parents to do at home. Have you got any ideas please. It's the wording I am stuck on! Thanks Kell x

Wanted to share a funny thing that happened at my pre-school. I asked our school joiner if he could make me a raised planting , digging bed similar to the one i already have. I went to school yesterday to do some jobs and found a huge, well i can only describe it as a wooden play pen. It was made of decking so i told him it was fantastic but please could he lower it by two planks. He said " Oh I made it high so the kids carnt play in it" Priceless. still making me laugh

We are a sessional, committe run pre-school that is struggling to get parents involved!!! I know this subject has come up time and time again and although it includes the 'committee' part which has been discussed in another thread, for us, its the participation in fundraising etc!! We recently had a photography competitioner and out of 78 children, only 14 entered (making a total profit of £14.00). Last half term we didnt have one single parent sign up for the help rota and only a handful of parents volunteer to make the playdough!!! I know many of our children will be leaving for school very soon and the parents often loose interest, but it really is a bit soul de…
