i have 2 members of staff with no qualifications and 1 of these has made it very clear over the years that she has no intention of going on any courses, i took over last easter from being deputy with little say in the running of the setting. with a positive mind in encouraging all staff to gain more knowledge (when taking over alot of the staff had little knowedge of the 6 areas etc!) i set out to give as much support as poss to help them. am i asking too much to want all of my team to be qualified and to want to go into the new EYFS programme with the right attitude to be the best at what we do? i'm meeting with these 2 members of staff tomorrow as at appraisals…

Hi All without going in to any details, has anyone had to terminate a childs place in a daycare setting due to severe behaviour issues? If so how did you go about this? What is Ofsted's stance on this?

AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH! Every one in my early years team appear to be on a training course today and are not answering the phones so I have come to you good people to help me. We were sent a list of upto date qualifications and their equivalent from the good old days. Does anyone know where to access this information and can you tell me the following: NNEB college diploma in Nursery Nursing (exam sat in 1993) - is this equivalent to NVQ 2 now. We are interviewing tomorrow and need to know whether this person will need to do more training or not. Please help, thank you.

we have a few children who attend another preschool as well as ours and i was wondering how i should go about sharing information with them. we are a private day nursery who have just opened in the area and a lot of the parents have transferred from the local nursery to us, but some attend our setting and the local nursery. if you like we are rivals. however we have been discussing it as a setting a think we need to be shairng info, for example we are looking at getting a childs speech assessed. how should we go about it or how and what do we need to do? thanks

Planning A Day Trip

I don't know whether this is in the right place - but I'm sure someone will move it if not. We are always on the look out for interesting places to visit with our Pre School (located in Cheshire). Getting a bit tired of the same trip to the farm every year - anyone any experience/ideas of places to go. Our children are 3-4+ yr olds, and we do like hands on if possible.
