Hi all. We are ahving our Inspire workshop soon and have decided as we have been using the outdoors so much that we would have it outside in the Nursery garden. We'd llike to do a few activities with the idea that the children can do as many or as few as they wish. The theme is 'Re-cycling' so all activities need to use such items. I would welcome any inventive craft ideas. We are making simple kites from carrier bags A window box herb garden ( 3 little yoghurt pots that they can plant with cuttings from our garden) A tree decoration - bits of wood with tin- (children will hammer holes into the thin tin - beer cans -I'll start drinking now ) and then trhead a piece…

Please can anyone help. When I do adult led/ focussed activities, should I be putting my Nursery children into ability groups to work with me or should I be differentiating through questionning and outcome as I am doing now? I am getting conflicting advice from colleagues at school and wondered what anyone on here would say- I just want to do the right thing but worry about grouping young children so early on- doesn't seem right to me, but at the same time, I want to be sure they are stretched and not underacheiveing. Thanks anyone.

Hi All, In view of the new eyfs, at our pre-school we are making many changes especially ensuring that are planning is more based around the child's interest and not on a pre-decided theme. Before I put pen to paper and compose what would most probably be a really long winded explanation to our parents/carers is anyone aware of any information that is alreay around. Many thanks Dot

"mommy Wants To Be Beautiful"

Dr Michael Salzhauer, a father of four, said he wrote the book because many of his patients are having "mommy makeovers" to fix saggy breasts and slack tummies a few years after childbirth and were concerned about what to tell their kids. What does everyone think of this...a book especially devised to help children understand the process of mum's plastic surgery, why dad will be collecting from school, why mum is in bed for a while? For medical reasons I can understand having to help children understand, but what do others think? The story was on Yahoo news...By Jill Serjeant Reuters - Thursday, April 17 11:17 pm

Hi I just wondered what other settings do when calculating hours worked by staff for wages. At the moment i do all the timesheets for every member of staff which is becoming quite time consuming, i just wondering about giving each member of staff their own timesheet to fill in, then i sign them off at the end of the month... does anybody else do this????

Can anyone help? We are a school Nursery class and have 32 children. One of them is making no progress whatsoever in amy way, if anything, he is going backwards! He cannot play alongside or near anyone without pushing them very hard and very purposefully out of the way. He then mutters under his breath and shakes his fist at the child/ren he has pushed away. If staff try call him over for any reason, good or bad, he runs off and thinks it is hilarious to have you chasing him around. When you catch up with him- he will then push, punch and again mutter at you. He will not let anyone hold his hand and tries to constantly wrestle free. There is so much anger in her…
