Hi I wonder if anyone can help me. I've just been tidying up our main noticeboard and wondered if there is a list anywhere that tells me what HAS to be up on display. What has everyone else got? We are a committee run preschool based on a school site. Thanks Caro

Hi I would be most grateful for some advice!! To cut a long story short, staff at my setting have previously been paid just one session (half day) per year for training. If they attend training and loose sessions, they just dont get paid. We also get £5.00 for attending a two hour planning meeting each half term. Both of these were introduced in September 07.(previous to that, there were no payments at all) I did post a little while ago asking what other settings do and received some very useful help/information. We then received £700 from the LEA because I had completed my level 4. This money was to be allocated to staff training. I put forward a proposal …

Leaving The Setting

Do any of you use a transition report or something similar for children who leave your setting to go to another one, i.e. NOT to school because then we use the FS one. I am thinking more of when they move to another nursery, for whatever reason, so something similar to the FS but more geared to the younger children. I did have one years ago but as always I now cant find it. The reason I had one then was because I was on a military unit and children where leaving all of the time due to mum or dad being posted, and we found we knew things about the child which mum or dad might not necessarily think to pass on to the new setting, for example, I had a little girl who would on…

Hope someone can help! Am I correct in saying that individual clips from Letters and Sounds can not be copied off the DVD or website? I am presenting a Letters and Sounds training evening for our parents and wanted to add clips into my powerpoint but it doesn't seem to want to copy over. Is it me, my computer or am I completely sane and it doesn't work for anyone???!! Any guidance appreciated! Gem

Time off means i can get creative!!! I have just made a new self registration board with out a board!!! I thought i would share with you all! I ordered a pack called "A festival of flowers" from our county council supplies book it was meant to be used for wall displays but I adapted it with loads of glue & garden sticks!!! The pack contained hundreds of pre-cut flower shapes which I layered up on top of each other to get different effects etc. I then added on green garden sticks & put yellow velco in the flower centers. I brought a huge wicker hanging basket & filled it with shredded green paper, placed a flower supporting grid type of thing!! over the top …

Self Harm

My staff have been to me for support, but as I have not experienced, I said that I would seek advice. They have an aspergus child, who has started to bite themselves. Not all the time, but from occassionally. They also have an autistic child, who has seen this and started to copy. The autistic child has also started to hit themeself in the head - again, only occassionally. Both children have plently to do when they are at nursery, and their levels of engagement are improving all of the time. It is however, very challenging for the staff when the 2 are in together, which is 3 sessions per week. It does seem to be during these sessions that the biting and hi…

Hi We are applying for some funding to refurbish the toilets at pre-school but we are in a rented hall. As part of the application we need to send in a copy of our rental agreement. We have asked and asked for them to get us a contract sorted but they keep passing the buck. I believe that the lady that needs to sort it just doesn't know where to start so wondered if anyone would mind sharing a copy of their rental agreement. Many thanks Laura PS It's my last day at work tomorrow, hurrah! Only 4 weeks to go until baby is due.
