Setting Up Activites
by Guest- 19 replies

I am doing a staff meeting next week on setting up activities. I am so despondant when I see a box of animals simply tipped out onto a bare table; or a ton of puzzles all mixed up together giving the children no chance of achieving them. I am going to set up a few activities myself, using fabrics etc and the good old tuff spot Any ideas for other things? Something inspirational if poss, but also something that doesn't take forever to set up, and I don't want to make it inpractical for staff to achieve in their busy days?

I want to give the children at my preschool a better oportunity to create dens both indoors and out. I am having a problem with what to use as supports; we are in that familiar position of having to get items in and out of storage daily so need things to be easily transported and stored. The supports need to be strong, safe and stable does anyone have any ideas?

How exciting We had a letter this morning to say we were getting £1200 from county! I think they have an underspend this year and have shared the money out. We have to have it spent by a certain date, but that won't be too difficult! OFSTED also rang this morning to say that there was a delay with us receiving our report. We wrote a letter after our feedback as we weren't happy with a couple of things so we think it is about that. I have to say that the we have had a couple of phone calls since we wrote to them and they have been very nice ladies who have spoken to us. I'm also ok today, I wasn't too achey after my fall. Baby feels as though it's been doing the …

Eyfs Information For Parents
by Guest- 15 replies

Hi, I think this question has been asked before but I can't find it right now. I am trying to write a brief explanation for parents about the EYFS and how their input into their children's records are valued, about our activities being more about children's current interests etc etc. Does anyone have anything similar that I could take a look at to help me develop my own please? Or how are you all informing your parents about the changes coming into effect? I am tweaking our planning, registration forms and childrens folders to the best of my ability but would like something to inform our existing parents of these changes. We are a small, sessional, committee run pre-s…

Extended Hours

We are a sessional pre-school providing 10 sessions of 2 and half hours a week. We have 74 children on the roll and 76 on the list for Sept 08. As we are on the grounds of a primary school (although run independantly) we have to consult with the school when changing our hours. Our opening times are staggered to help the traffic/parking. If both pre-school and school where to open at the same time it may cause problems. Anyway, the school has been having 'issues' with parking etc and when I asked wether we could move our times slightly to accomodate a lunch club, the answer had to be no due to parking/traffic. Anyway, to cut a long story short, we are wanti…
