Safer Food Better Business

Hi we have always had our dinners cooked and sent over to us, but now we are having a cook (when one is employed that is!) but until then staff will be cooking the lunches. we have used safer food better business in nursery, but so far it has only really required us recording the food temperature before we serve it. if we are cooking our own food what records do we need to maintain?, and for those of you that know safer food better business do you know if we have to continue using their format for recording info, or would it be sufficient to devise our own table, which records info such as food made, temp cooked to, served time etc.... any ideas, Daw…

as some may know our 'marquee' we used for outside provision was destroyed in the strong winds at the end of last year. Am now looking for alternative options to replace it. I would get the same but obviously don't want a repeat of this! Got any ideas for shelter? What/how do you provide outside provision all year round whatever the weather. This housed painting, puzzles, small world etc etc.....basically reflected what was on offer indoors. Adults and children really miss it so would love to replace. mrsb

Hi I have seen a job advertised for a TA in a nursery unit of a local school and I am thinking of applying for it. The description states that they are looking for someone who is qualified as NNEB or equivalent. I have recently passed my level 3 diploma in preschool practice and I'm not sure whether this is equivalent to the NNEB. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks Sally

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if someone who works in a mixed age room which accomodates for birth to three matters and foundation stage could give me some insight into how they run the room.? Example, do you have two seperate ways of planning? do you have staff who are key persons for the birth to three and different staff for the foundation stage children? Do you have seperate garden times or do you all join together? also what do you do about the toys and activities, as alot of toys etc will say not suitable for children under 3, but obviously the foundation stage children need access to toys etc suitable for them, small parts such as pegs for the peg board, le…

I Passed!
by Guest- 29 replies

Just can't contain how pleased I am. I passed my first Unit of my Foundation Degree. You see, I thought of throwing in the towel after I lost the plot - my sister was diagnosed with cancer and had an immediate mastectomy followed by chemo. Three family members then died and my mum broke her ankle -this was the final straw, so I filled in the forms for the ou to take account of my situation, but forgot to post them with the final essay! Just to add to it all, my essay got caught in the postal strike and the lady at the post office sent it 2nd class saying it made no difference (it does)! I haven't had a letter yet, but the webpage says I have passed with…

The chairs in our 1 year old room, are too big for the majority of the children, in the sense that their feet do not reach the floor. Please can anyone recommend a brand of chairs and tables that are suitable for the 'average' 1 year old?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uklatest/story/0,,-7136923,00.html "In October, a study by the Daycare Trust and the National Centre for Social Research found 28% of parents who were trying to take up the Government's offer of free childcare for three and four-year-olds were still being asked to pay even if they were seeking less than 12.5 hours. The report said some nurseries argued that they had to charge a 'top-up fee' because the Government funding was not enough. Ministers have now introduced new rules banning nurseries from charging for what should be free."
