I have just been reading on another forum about 'learning journey books'.......seems they are scrap books that each child has that is filled with photos, work, comments etc to share with parents showing how they are getting on. Does anyone else do this?? I like the idea but with 50 - 60 children on the register it would take up a lot of time!!!or am I being lazy!!!

2 1/2 Year Olds In The Fsu
by Guest- 13 replies

Hi there, Our pre-school currently has 8 sessions for 3/4 year olds and 2 sessions for 2 1/2 year olds. They stay in the young sessions until they have turned 3 then move over. if they're not funded they pay the voucher rate. Next year we are moving to a shared unit with the Reception Class ( We currently operate from seperate building although are a PFSU). My question is that the School thinks it is against all laws to have 2 1/2 year old with a REception child in the same room although we know of several other PFSU's which operate in this way. Coulod you please ket me know if anyone does this and if so could you let me know the LA you are in. Thanks in advance

Outdoor Play Space
by Guest toddleo- 6 replies

Following a visit from our PLA rep and our new QIP/Qualified teacher, we are trying to get our heads around the notion that everychild needs access to outdoor play for at least 20 minutes at each session, this forming part of the EYFS. This is a real problem for us as we have no outdoor space at all, we are in a village on a busy road, in a church hall. What do you people do? are any of you in a similar position as us? we are worried about ratios, and would be only happy going out with 1 adult to 2 children, there is no way we could do our 30 children at every session. They range form 2 and a half to nursery age... Any thoughts, or similar experiences?

Ring Games

Hi Everyone I am looking for ideas for ring games. Have several tried and tested ones which we use over and over again and wondered if anyone had any they were willing to share to add to my list. Many in books are aimed at older children and just don`t work with two to four year olds`s. Here are my tried and trusted favourites:Honey Bear, farmers in his den, ring a roses, there was a princess long ago, I went to school one morning and I walked like this. Any ideas gratefully received.

Hi Just wondered if anyone knows where I can find an 'official' list of nutritional guidelines for children under 5? I know about healthy diet and all that entails but I am trying to help a student who has been asked to source 'government guidelines for children's nutritional requirements'. I have wandered around various sites but can't find what I am looking for Any suggestions welcome

Bikes
by Guest- 6 replies

I am wanting to invest in some bikes and wheeled toys for our garden. Historically the nursery has invested in cheap bikes, that do not last very long. I would like to get a range of good quality, durable bikes and scooters, etc. Can anyone please recommend where to get them from?
