Mixing 2-3 Plus Agegroup

It has been suggested that we put our 2 year olds anf 3-4 year olds in the same room . I ffeel that this could possibly work in a large area but as we only have a small room them how are we going to get alll areas of the curriculum working alongside the requirements for the ubder threes? I would really appreciate some advise as this is my first post and I am not very experienced. Could it work and has anyone any practical suggestions. Planning ideas would also be appreciated. thanks

I have heard of a fundraising scheme where you send of old empty ink cartridges and in return you are sent money......I have 'googled' & have come up with quite a few companies But which one to choose??? Does anyone already do this & what company do they use. I get through so many at home and at work and I just seem to throw them away.... shame on me..... mrsb

Hello I'm just in the process of sorting out pay for mum's pre-school staff and I know that the holiday entitlement is increasing to 4.8 weeks. I was just wondering how this works when staff are only employed to work 38 weeks a year. Do they still get the 4.8 weeks or do you work it out that as because they work a certain amount of the year they get the equivalent in holiday pay? My mum has always paid her part time staff 3 weeks holiday pay. I had a look on the government direct website but it only talks about full time or part time staff working all year. Can anyone help? I'm feeling confused Thanks Laura

HI okay real short notice, we have parents evening tommorow evening (6:15 - 7:30) at nursery. The plan so far is that its drop in so parents can call in and view their child's profile/ room at their leisure. we were also thinking of setting up the rooms with activities that the children normally play with, but might not be typical to parents i.e gloop, Gelli Baff, mono printing, with explanations of how and why we use it in nursery. all staff will be on hand to talk with parents.... any ideas ofanything else i should add/perhaps not do? hi, im managing a holiday club at the moment, and have a 3 1/2 yr old boy who has moved to the setting from america! The nursery is attached to the school (which the club is also part of) and i spoke to the practitioner who knew him best in there before club started. She told me that the nursery had not been informed that the boy was still potty training. But that it explained why they were having toiletting issues - im sure you can imagine! he comes to us for three days a week, for 6 hours each day. He does not wear pull ups. on monday he used the loo twice, and changed him once( no2). on wed didnt change him and he used the loo twice(only no1). on fri he …

Hi all, been allocating new children to their key person for September. At the moment we have a keyworker system in place but I don't feel it is being used to it's full potential What I would like to do is: - Allocate a time for keyperson to do obs/development records/group time during the session. I have sorted out the groups so that the children are in at the same time as the allocated keyperson....this took quite a while to do I now need to find a suitable time for this to happen within the session.....we will be lucky enough to have 5 staff on each session (this includes me) so not much paperwork/office time for me again!
